What’s at the top of your priority list?
Have you ever known anyone who is never satisfied or content? No matter how much they receive, they always want more. This could be in the form of money, relationships, jobs, etc. Setting goals is excellent but we must learn to be content while waiting on God to answer. Always needing someone or some thing to make it better will never work. When we spend time with God, we are filled with love and peace (contentment) that only He can give. A deep relationship with God diminishes the “I want” syndrome that consumes our minds. Listen, “The grass is never greener on the other side (except on top of the septic tank).”
“Only Jesus Can Satisfy Your Soul”
“The world will try to satisfy that longing in your soul. You may search the wide world over but you’ll be just as before. You’ll never find true satisfaction until you’ve found the Lord, for only Jesus can satisfy your soul.
Only Jesus can satisfy your soul. And only He can change your heart and make you whole. He’ll give you peace you never knew, sweet love and joy and Heaven too, for only Jesus can satisfy your soul.
If you could have the fame and fortune all the wealth you could obtain yet you have not Christ within, your living hear would be in vain. There’ll come a time when death shall call you, riches can not help you then, so come to Jesus for only He can satisfy your soul…..”
This used to be one of my favorite gospel songs as it would always remind me that the things we work so hard for in this world will never satisfy us. Only Jesus can fill that need/void we have. More money, cars, fame, etc. won’t give us the peace that we so desire. It must come from a relationship with Jesus. The song states that He’ll give us peace and joy we never knew. True peace comes from God and God alone. It’s sad to see people fight hard to have their own version of peace. They search for it in every corner of their lives available. What they find is only a temporary band-aid, which doesn’t heal the problem, but just covers it up. As Christians we know that money and riches do not make one happy. Yes, it’s nice to have, but if that’s all we concentrate on, we are worshiping a false God.
I encourage you to seek Him (pray) today with your heart. He is ready to pour out His love, joy, and peace (contentment) into your life. Ask Him to fill you with His love. Your past sins don’t matter, just come to him as you are. He’s standing with open arms waiting for you.
Always looking for happiness through things and people will exhaust you. Choose to look to Jesus. He is your answer.
