Community Breast Cancer Walk is Oct. 21
October Fest was held at Midway M. B. Church last Saturday. There were 4 teams competing. Tevin Nickols team was Blue and they furnished the hamburgers. Tom Wilson’s Team was the orange team and they furnished the drinks. Tyrone McClendon team was the green and they furnished the hot dogs. Lasean “Shun” Jackson team was the red and they furnished the chips. The walk begun at 9:00 a.m. at the church grounds. On completion of the walk the teams played each other in basketball. Then to the volley ball contest. Some played bingo while the outside games were going on,
Maggie “Hannah” Smith drove Tyrone’s truck keeping water at hands reach for the walkers. Delie Shepard prepared the hamburgers and hot dogs for consumption. Constance McClendon made sure there was plenty of fruit and other eatables, like cookies, pouch drinks and peanut butter with crackers.
Everyone had fun and it was a wonderful gathering with the kids and other participants.
Vivian Lewis is in the hospital in Jackson. Please remember her, her husband Junior Lewis and her family in your prayers.
There will be a benefit program for Ulanda “Tonya” and Lisa Hawkins, Saturday, October 21st. The theme is “With your Passion, No one walks alone”. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Both ladies are also sister and battling this terrible disease. The Community Breast Cancer Walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. We are asking for a $5.00 donation to participate in the walk. Or like me just donate the $5 if you do not participate in the walk.
Immediately after the walk there will be a benefit program held. Chicken Plates and Hamburger Plates will be available for a $7 donation. You must get a ticket from one of the four listed below for your plate will be prepared. Pick up time for the plates will be 12:00 p.m.
All donations and monies for the walk and plates will go to the Hawkins Family.
The churches in the area if possible will donate items to make this event a success. You can donate money to the Hawkins family through the program.

Lone Pilgrim District Laymen Institute will meet on Saturday, at Galilee M.B. Church outside of Carthage. Asking someone from each of the Lone Pilgrim District Churches to attend. Rev. Marvin Myles is the pastor.
Trunk or Treat will be held at Midway M. B. Church parking lot on Saturday, October 28, starting at 5:00 p.m. Please bring your children out to enjoy the fun.
