No Internet, No News!
I have been asked by several different people why my column was not in the paper. My internet works when it wants too. Sometimes it will and sometimes it does not work. It has really been hard trying to log my grandchildren on the internet when it does not work. I pay dearly for internet service but in the country, you have sporadic services, or no service at all.
I was first on AT&T. I would have weeks at a time when the internet would not work in my house. I must pay the bill each month on time or loose what little service I did have. Then I went to Viasat and payed four times more than I was paying but I was getting some service. Then if you use your allocated amount of megabites, the service gets so slow until it does not work until your next allocation of megabites.
I know that it was passed in the legislature and signed by the governor that the power companies could offer internet services. I have been waiting over a year and still no word of when the light companies will provide the services they have been granted. I have called my light company which is Central Electric and they have no idea when they will offer internet.
Now with the pandemic, schools are out and education is getting to be home based, as home school and internet programs. If there is not internet in the home what is there for the students to do. If technology is the new way of doing things and you are denied the technology, what must you do? I am waiting for some answers.
Grocery prices are up, especially the meats and eggs. Vegetable are also going up because of the lack of people being able to work in the food processing plants. I admit there is little food that I now eat raw. Most of the food I now eat is cooked at a temperature that at some time is above 212 degrees for twenty minutes. I am thankful, I am 70 years old with some major health issues, but I am still here doing well. I am raising a garden with plans to grow some of the meat I eat. I love living in the country with no immediate neighbors except my children and grandchildren. If the Lord says the same we will be okay.
My turnip greens and mustard greens are doing well. We are now eating them fresh from the garden.
