Active Bible Studay Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
Midway Community is saddened by the death of Rev. R. C. Odom. He was eulogized last week in the church he founded, “The Church Without a Spot or Wrinkle.” The eulogy was delivered by his brother, Bishop Henry C. Odom. He was interred in Chicago on Halsted Street. His family from here motored to the services. His brothers from here are Westley Odom wife, Ruby J. Odom and Henry C. Odom. His sisters that still live here are, Margorie Odom Washington, and Katie Mae Odom Kincaid. He also had nephews and nieces that attended.
Sympathy to the Holifield, Bobbitt and Hunt families in the passing of Ray Charles Holifield. His arrangements had not been made at my deadline to turn in the column.
Midway M. B. Church has started up an active Bible Study each Wednesday Night 6:30 pm until 7:30 p.m. Deacon Tevin Nichols is the teacher in the absence of Pastor Ronnie Whittington. The subject of the lesson is “Leadership.” The subtopic; The character of the leader and what the bible says about the qualifications of a leader.
Midway M. B. Church Youth Revival will begin March 26-March 29, 2018.
The Christian Education Chairman Dr. Locord Wilson and the Vacation Bible School Director, Patty Odom are asking everyone who plans to attend Vacation Bible School to fill out a registration form. Supplies must be ordered.
Our First Lady Vernita Whittington has undergone surgery. Remember her, her husband Pastor Ronnie Whittington and the rest of the family in your prayers.
Chenelle McBeath has been in the Baptist Hospital with some of her days in Intensive care. She is out now and at home. On Facebook she was thankful for the love and support of her husband Jerry McBeath and her mother who never left her side the entire time she was hospitalized. Remember her husband, Jerry, her mother and children in your prayers.
Mandy McBeath is scheduled for surgery. Remember her and her family in your prayers.
Sympathy is given to the Patrick Family. Wilson Patrick transitioned and was eulogized on last Saturday. Rev. Melvin Lyles delivered the eulogy. Rev. Henry Patrick read the scriptures and offered prayer. Selections were rendered by Louise McCoy.

Mr. Vancelle Kenyatta “Vandy” Kennis died Thursday, March 1, 2018 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “Vandy,” as he was affectionally known, slipped in the bathroom rupturing a blood vessel in his head; he died later on in the day at a Milwaukee hospital. Vandy’s parents are Samuel and Emma Stowers Kennis of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His mother, Emma Stowers, was born and raised in the Midway Community and attended Midway Vocational High School before relocating to Milwaukee. Emma’s parents are the late Ausby “Pawpaw” and Vonnie Mae McClendon Stowers. As Vandy’s organs were donated and his body was cremated, no funeral nor memorial is planned. Vandy was a lifelong member of Canaan Baptist Church; he graduated from Madison High School and attended Carroll College all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Praise God for the life and legacy of Mr. Vancelle Kenyatta “Vandy” Kennis!
