Congratulations Graduates
Midway M. B. Church Sunday School graduation was held last Sunday, May 6th immediately after Sunday School. Anewar Stowers graduated from Class 2 to Class 3. Timeshia White, and Thomas McClendon graduated from Class 3 to Class 4. Martez Nickols graduated from Class 4 to Class 5. Sunday School Graduation is a transition from one age group to another age group in another class.
The graduations exercise was beautiful. Thomas Wilson marched everyone in with the flag. Dr. Locord Wilson, the Dean of Christian Education marched in in full regalia of cap and gown. Next in line was Minister Griffin and Deacon Tevin Nickols as superintendent. The graduating students marched in next followed by the teachers, Leslie Ross, Pam Banks, Patty Odom, Jennie Clay Brenda Nickols, Delie Shepard, Diane Banks, and Constance McClendon. The end of the processional was Chelsea McClendon and Annie Stowers the Sunday Secretary and Assistant Secretary. The adult teachers are Thomas Wilson, Minister Wesley Griffin and Deacon Tevin Nickols.
As a great surprise to the Administrator of the Year, Jackson State University, Dr. Locord Wilson, the Sunday School Education Department hosted a Reception in her honor, the Teacher of the Year for Scott Central Attendance Center Shawanna Matheny honor, and to the Sunday School graduates honor. Dr. Glinda Windfield, Special Education Department at Jackson State University was one of the special guest along with Dr. Wilson’s paternal cousin Willie James Johnson. Those helping prepare the food: punch by Delie Shepard; fruit trays by Dr. Lorraine Dozier; vegetable trays by Jennie Clay; Ice Cream by Annie Stowers and Constance McClendon; Chelsey McClendon ordered the beautiful cake; Patty Odom supplied the buns; and Brenda Nickols supplies the condiments. Delie Shepard, Patty Odom and Annie Stowers decorated the tables. Thanks to North Side for all that they do to help the church. It is really appreciated. Sausage on buns were prepared by Delie Shepard, Annie Stowers, Alice Hawkins and Anewar Stowers. Everyone pulled together to make the Reception the great success that it was.
Congratulations to the college graduates: Mahershalalhashbaz “Maha” Bradford will be graduating from Belhaven University with a degree in Sports Medicine. “Maha” first name has 18 letters, is biblical and found in Isaiah 8:1. He is the son of Billy “Bill” Bradford and Climmie Johnson Bradford. His paternal grandparents were the late Henry Earl Bradford and Irine “Cattle D” Beamon Bradford. His maternal grandparents were the late Johnny Johnson and Christine “Pepper” Williams Johnson. His plan is employment with the Sports Medical Clinic.
Again other colligate graduates are Shun Williams, Neola Washington Jackson and Laquisha McKee Boone whose husband is Eric Boone.
Sympathy is given to the Reed family in the death of Lee Joe Reed and his son Joseph Reed. Their combined funerals were held last Saturday. Remember the families in your payers.
Sympathy is given to the Barrett and Horne Families in the passing of Earline Barrett. Her funeral was held last Saturday in Morton. Remember the families in your prayers.
Sympathy is given to the Patrick family in the passing of G. C. Patrick. His funeral was held on last Saturday. Remember the family in your prayers.
Sympathy is given to the Bell Family in the passing of Renae Cleo Bell. Her services were Saturday, April 28 at Sylvester U. M. Church. She is the aunt of Mattie C. Evans. Remember the family in your prayers.
Sympathy is given to the Holley family in the passing of David Holley. His services were held on Saturday, April 28 at Pine Grove M. B. Church in Madden. Remember the family in your prayers.
Sympathy is given to the Barlow Family in the passing of Mary Barlow. Her son Pierre Barlow had moved her from Specialty Select in Jackson closer to him in San Antonio, Texas. Her arrangements services will be Saturday, at Galilee M. B. Church in Louin, outside of Bay Springs, MS, at 2:00 p.m. Keys Funeral Home in Raleigh will be handling the arrangements. Remember the family in your prayers. Pierre will return to Mississippi via flight on Thursday.
Mother’s Day will be celebrated at the church. Leslie Ross and the men are preparing a special luncheon for the ladies and Mother’s Day Program will be done by Chelsey McClendon.
Percy Parker is in the hospital. Remember him, his wife and family in your prayers.
Remember Frank James Boyd in your prayers his surgery is scheduled for Tuesday of this week.
