Midway hosts 7th
Annual Christian Rally
Thank You to Rev. Corey Bender and Midway Freewill Baptist Church. On last Friday with the aid of Tyson Foods, they distributed many cases of chicken free to anyone in the community, all you had to do was go to the church and pick it up. Again, thank you Rev. Bender and Midway Freewill Baptist Church.
Midway M. B. Church hosted its 7th Annual Christian Rally on last Sunday in the church Fellowship Hall starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 10:15 a.m. The booths with information on biblical studies, were decorated beautifully. The Discipleship Ministry served breakfast of grits, buttered rice, boiled eggs, sausage and biscuits, smoked sausage on a bun, red hot sausage on a bun, orange juice, apple juice, grape juice, coffee and cocoa. Some beautiful prizes were given away Dr. Locord Wilson is Dean of Christian Education. Any and everyone is invited.
Would like to thank Northside for their aided contribution of food for the Christian Education Rally on last week. Also, thank Mapp Funeral Home, Holifield Funeral Home and Bank of Forest for their donations to the rally.
ECAM Convention was held on last week at the Imperial Palace in Biloxi. The convention recertifies Election Commissioners each year. The presenters were from the Attorney General’s Office and the Secretary of State’s Office. Those attending from Scott County were: Delie Shepard of Beat 5, Betty Wallace Nelson of Beat 4, Virginia Hannah of Beat 3, Carolyn Knowles of Beat 2 and the Circuit Clerk “Becky” Gray.
Sympathy for the Peavy and Smith family in the passing of Willie Peavy. His services will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m. at Midway M. B. Church. The pastor, Rev. Wesley Griffin will officiate and deliver the eulogy. Delie Shepard will be the Mistress of Ceremony. Rev. Jerry Johnson will offer prayer and render the selection “Thunder.” Sandra McClendon will render the selection “If I had Wings.” Jerry McBeath will render the selection “God’s Grace.” Elder Arthur Kennedy will read the scriptures. His interment will be at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. Willie is the husband of Violet Smith Peavy. Mapp Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements.

Sympathy to the Craft Family in the passing of K. Y. Craft, Sr. He was eulogized on last Saturday, at Goodhope M. B. Church of Homewood-Pulaski. Mapp Funeral Home was entrusted with his arrangements.
Sympathy to the Bland and Strong Family in the passing of Tykey Bland. He is the son of Patsy Strong Bland and the late Dennis Bland. His services will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Greater Deliverance C.O.G.I.C. His interment will be Midway M. B. Church Cemetery. Holifield Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements.
Sympathy to the Clark Family in the passing of Tommie Sue Clark, a retired school teacher of Scott County Schools and Forest Schools. She is the wife of “Bobo” Clark. Her arrangements are incomplete at my press deadline. Mapp Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.
Sympathy to the Townsend Family in the passing of Cassandra Townsend. Her services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at First Walnut Grove C.O.G.I.C. Her interment will be in Truelight Cemetery.
Vernita “Ollie” McClendon has been moved from the hospital to a Rehabilitation Center. She is still having problems with her speech and movability. Remember her and her brothers, Lonnie, Archie and W.C. McClendon in your prayers.
