Join Midway for an Old Timey dinner
Midway M. B. Church will host its annual Black History Program on the 4th Sunday during regular service. Sylvia is chairing the program. After service, there will be an “old timey”, soul food dinner. All the foods on the menu will be home made. Come an enjoy an “Old timey” home cooked meal.
Lone Pilgrim District will be selling ticket to the Valentine Ball which will be held on February 16, 6:00 p.m. at Truelight Community Center. Dr. Locord Wilson has some available tickets.
Bethanie Odom Thomas had surgery last week in Milwaukee. Remember her in your prayers.
Scott Central High School Band is selling popcorn as a fundraiser for new music stands. Please help by buying popcorn or donating.
Willie’s and Violet’s grandson attended the funeral. I went to take pictures with Eric Murray of the Kansas City Chiefs professional football team. That was really wonderful.
Sympathy to the Bland and Strong Family in the passing of Tykey Bland. He was the son of Patsy Strong Bland and the late Dennis Bland. His services were held last Saturday, at Greater Deliverance C.O.G.I.C. His interment was a Midway M. B. Church Cemetery. The Mistress of ceremony was Mrs. Stacie Murray. Old Testament Scriptures were read by Min. James Tucker. New Testament Scriptures were read by Deacon Roy Murray. Elder Vernada Pinkston offered prayer. Expressions of Love were given by Missionary Nykemia Brown. Words of Encouragements were given by Elder Charlie Jones, Jr. Mr. Loueloa McConnell sang a solo. The eulogy was delivered by Elder Vernada Pinkston. Holifield Funeral Home was entrusted with his arrangements.
Sympathy to the Clark Family in the passing of Tommie Sue Clark, a retired school teacher of Scott County Schools and Forest Schools. She was the wife of George “Bobo” Clark. Her services were held last Saturday at Lynch Chapel United Methodist Church. Her interment was in Lovelady Cemetery. Rev. Sheldon Thomas officiated and delivered the eulogy. Mistress of Ceremony was Cynthia Slaughter Melton. Scripture and prayer were rendered by Rev. Willie R. Pinkston. Reflections were done by Dr. John Clark and a member of the Class of 67. Words of Comfort were given by Rev. Billy Ray Lyles. Barbara Pinkston rendered the song selections. Tributes and Acknowledgements were done by Cynthia Slaughter Melton. Mapp Funeral Home was entrusted with her arrangements.
Sympathy to the Townsend Family in the passing of Cassandra Townsend. Her services were held last Friday, at First Walnut Grove C.O.G.I.C. Her interment was at Truelight Cemetery.
Vernita “Ollie” McClendon has been moved from the hospital to a Rehabilitation Center. She is still having problems with her speech and movability. Remember her and her brothers, Lonnie, Archie and W.C. McClendon in your prayers. Some family member is staying with her round the clock.

Glad to see Wanda Stowers Bivins at church on last Sunday. She came down for Willie Peavy’s Funeral and remained spending several days with her Aunt Margie Ree Odom Washington.
