Mother’s Day Program is Sunday
Midway M. B. Church Sunday School Graduation was held last Sunday immediately after Sunday School. Dr. Locord Wilson Ph.D., Dean of Christian Education, was the Mistress of Ceremony. Dr. Wilson marched in first with her full regalia of graduation cap and gown. Thomas Wilson was the Flag bearer. Following the Flag Bearer was the pastor, Rev. Wesley Griffin, the Superintendent Deacon Tevin Nickols, secretary Chelsey McClendon, assistant Secretary Annie Stowers, teachers Pam Banks, Patty Odom, Brenda Nickols, Assistant teacher Delie Shepard, Diane Banks, and Assistant Teacher Constance McClendon. Students graduating were: Jacolby Anderson, Jadarrious McClendon, Jadaze Stowers. Student not present was Chris McClendon. Teachers not present were Leslie Ross and Jennie Clay.
Dr. Lorraine Dozier gave words of encouragement to the graduates. Dr. Locord Wilson explained the bands on her robe. She had three bands indicating she had a terminal degree or doctorate. If you see a robe with a fourth band, this means that person is the president of a college.
We were so glad to see Verneda “Ollie” McClendon able to come and be with us at church on last Sunday. Continue to pray that she continues to recover more and more each day.
Charles McClendon celebrated his 88th Birthday with family and friends with a Luncheon at Penn’s Sante Fe Steakhouse. Those in attendance were: Nieces Delie Shepard whom he resides with and his caretaker, Dr. Lorraine Dozier, great niece Dr. Locord Wilson and husband Thomas, Great nephews Leslie Ross and Jewaun Ross, cousin Elder Auther Kennedy and friends, Billy Watts, Christina McDaniel and Daysheria McDaniel.
Mother’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday, May 12 at Midway M. B. Church. Cadessica McClendon, Sandra McClendon and Victoria Cox are in charge of the Mother’s Day Program.
Leslie Ross is spear heading the men in preparing the Mother’s Day Meal. Would like to congratulate the men at the church. They have always done a wonderful job in feeding the mothers.
Lone Pilgrim’s Laymen Meeting will be held at Providence M. B. Church on May 18th. Dr. Johnny Barnes is the pastor of Providence.
Graduation Program will be held on May 19th. The MC’s for the program will be Courtney and Chelsey McClendon.
Early graduates are: Denise Stowers graduating from Mississippi State University with a degree in Psychology. Trevon Odom graduating from East Central Community college with a degree in Electricity, Heating and Cooling. Ryan Shepard graduating from Delta Community College in Morehead, MS with a degree in X-Ray Technology.
Lone Pilgrim Youth Banquet will be held at Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church in Carthage on May 25th. Dr. Dewayne Bloodsaw is the pastor of Pilgrim’s Rest.
Sending prayers to Bettie Nell Banks White. She is not doing well. She is in St. Dominic Hospital, room 2420. Remember her and her family in your prayers
Midway M. B. Church Vacation Bible School will start May 28-31 at 6:00 pm – 8:00 p.m. Dr. Locord Wilson Dean of Christian Education. Patty Odom Vacation Bible School Director. You may get a registration form by contacting Patty Odom.
Remember George Beamon in your prayers. He was admitted to University Medical Center again on this last Saturday. He has been able to come home.
Sympathy to the Lyles Family in the passing of Joe Lyles. He was eulogized last Saturday at Balucta M. B. Church. His interment was in Lovelady Cemetery in Forest. Remember the family in your prayers. Holifield Funeral Home was entrusted with his arrangements.
Sympathy to the Shepard family in the passing of Katie Shepard. She was eulogized last Saturday at Pilgrim Rest in Morton. Her interment was in Pleasant Gift Church Cemetery in Branch. Mapp Funeral Home was entrusted with her arrangements.
Sympathy to the McClendon Family in the passing of Bennie Mae McClendon who was from the Coast. Her arrangements were incomplete at my press deadline. Mapp Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.
Sympathy to the Gray family in the passing of William Gray. He was eulogized on last Saturday at Lynch Chapel Methodist Church. His interment was in Lovelady Cemetery. Holifield Funeral Home was entrusted with his arrangements.
Sympathy to the Boone Family in the passing of Charles Boone of Jackson. His eulogy was given on last Saturday at Evans Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. His services were entrusted to Evans Memorial Funeral Home.
Percy Shepard was rushed by ambulance to St. Dominic Hospital on last Wednesday. He had complications after returning home from Dialysis. He was released later that night and was able to return home. Remember him and his wife Dorothy in your prayers.
