Announcements: Reports from the Morton Public Library’s Silent Auction Fundraiser indicates that approximately $1,000 dollars were acquired through the generous donation of auction items and bids. We care Mission Food Distribution date remaining in September is Friday, September 27 at Fellowship Hall of Morton United Methodist Church, 29 Church Street. The hours are 10 a.m.-12 noon for those eligible to receive food. Required documentation for all members of the household must be presented at the time of registration.
Excel will offer a free program “Horse Tales” designed for ages 6-13 on Friday, September 20 at 5:30 p.m. Presented by Scott County Extension Service, the topic will be about horses and their care, etc. plus answers to questions. Fun and snacks will enhance this experience. Please register plans to attend by calling 601-732-1800.
Quick bites, a program offered by interactive video, at the MS State Extension Service at Scott County Extension facility, free on Thursdays (during lunch-from 12-1), will be held on September 26. The program on “Proper Use and Care of Quilts” will be presented by Nancy Losure, Expert Quiltmaker Golden Triangle Quilt Guild. Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Among those attending the annual MHV “Lunch and Learn” event at the MSU/Scott County Extension Service facility on Tuesday, September 10 were Morton MHV members:
Betsy Comfort, Gail Griffin, Bobbie Hodges, Cathy Johnson Diane Kirk, Florence Measels, Ann Rector, Frisky Roland, Shirley Sawyer, Judy Stegall, Kathy Warren, Helen Watkins and guests Wilda Echiburu and Bill Johnson. They were treated to a delicious lunch and demonstration on Broken China Mosaics and GOG (glass on glass) decorative items presented by Susan (Mrs. David) Farris of Brandon, formerly of Morton. Her demonstration, story of the inspiration to create this art form, willingness to answer questions and display of a large variety of her work was enthusiastically received by all present. Appreciation to Scott County MHV and Forest Community Arts, Inc. for bringing this opportunity for food, fun and learning.
