Announcements: Excel Learning Center needs volunteer members of the Morton trade area to deliver meals to the seniors/shut ins.  Ten meals are provided by the Scott Regional Hospital for five days a week, Monday-Friday.  With the present number of volunteers ideally each member/ team only needs to deliver meals once a month. The service project only takes about one hour (plus or minus) depending on the location of the recipients.  If interested in serving in this important mission service in Morton call Excel at 601-732-1800.

The Annual Fall Bazaar Fundraiser-Independence United Methodist Church is scheduled for Saturday, October 26. There will be delicious food, Quilts, a large variety of crafts and collectables plus great fellowship. If you have items to donate for this event or plan to do some holiday shopping for unique gifts, join in the fun.

We Care Missions Food distribution dates in October are on the second Friday (has already past-October 11) and fourth Friday (October 25). Registration for all eligible food recipients is held at Fellowship Hall of Morton United Methodist Church, 29 Church Street from 10 a. m.-12 noon.

Thursday, October 24th Family Story Time will be offered at Morton Public Library at 5 p.m.  The theme is Halloween and will be for all ages in the families with stories, songs and a craft offered for a fun evening.

Congratulations to:  Excel Community/Learning Center on the celebration of their 20th Year of serving the Morton and surrounding communities with many valuable services while in the City of Morton.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Nancy Harvey, Kevin and Ann Everett and Ellie drove to St. Louis for the opportunity to see their grandson/son/uncle Will Everett receive his MD degree from the University of St. Louis Medical School.  Guests of Will his wife Dr. Elise Everett and children, Roland and Addie they report being extremely proud of his accomplishments in his chosen career goals. On a return trip they attended the Christening ceremony of Roland and Addie.

Kelly and Elizabeth Nash enjoyed a “Cruisin’ the Coast” event on the Mississippi Gulf coast.  With three nights lodging at the Imperial Palace there, cruisin’ in their 1988 Blazer, restin’ and relaxin’, the outing was a wonderful weekend treat.
