Announcements: All CMRLS Libraries (Morton Public Library) will be closed on November 11 (Veterans Day) and November 28 (Thanksgiving Day). Other activities for November are Tweens-Thursday, 7th Making a Thanksgiving Tree (leaf decorations); Family Story Time: Thursday 14th Thanksgiving Story Time, sing songs, make a craft; Thursday 21st Making Fall Foam Wreaths (please sign up prior to date due for purchasing supplies); Every Friday (Senior Coffee Hour-10-11 a.m.)

We Care Missions Food Distribution dates are: Friday, November 8 and Friday, November 22 from 10 a.m.-noon at Fellowship Hall of Morton United Methodist Church, 29 Church Street.

Scott County MHV sponsored, Creative Christmas will be held at the Forest National Guard Armory on Thursday, November 14 beginning at 10 a.m.  All vendors wishing to participate in this annual event with your art, crafts, food, etc. call the MSU/Scott County Extension office at 601-469-4241 to receive more information and reserve tables/chairs needed for your items. The demonstrating artist, sponsored by Forest Community Arts will be Susan Farris with her Broken China Mosiac Art.

The members of Independence United Methodist Church wish to express appreciation to those volunteers who worked so diligently to prepare food and donate desired items for the Annual Fundraiser Bazaar and those many who attended enjoying the delicious meal and purchasing unique items for themselves or for desirable gifts.  An incomplete result on earnings at the event is $3,200 plus.

To: Those Scott County MHV members/residents winning awards at the Mississippi State Fair for their entries in the Homemaker Crafts/Art/Food Preservation exhibits. They are: Paula Bell-Blue (afghan)-Ringgold MHV Club), Frank Edmondson-2 Blue (blueberry jelly and jam)-Scott County resident, Cathy Johnson (Quilted Purse)-Morton MHV Club, Janice Noel-2 blue (2 aprons and Pillow)-Ringgold MHV Club, Kisty Powell-3 Blue-(painted metal necklace)-Scott County resident and Frisky Roland-Blue (framed picture art)-Morton MHV Club.

To:  Those Scott County 4-H exhibitors at the Mississippi State Fair on winning awards.  They are:  Westin Bridges-Blue (art); Brynnley Powell-2 Blue (recycled weaved bag and pillow case, 1 Red art work); Ethan Powell- Blue (pillow case and 3 Red weaved art, art sculpture and art picture); Lydia Powell-2 Blue (pillow case/textile,1 Red sculptured art); Cole Rawson-2 Blue (cotton and corn); Irby Rawson-3 Blue (cotton, corn, soybeans).  All awards at the Fair advanced as Overall Sweepstakes winners at the Scott County Homemakers Fair (Adult and 4-H).

Prayers and concern for: Continued-Ernie Easterling, Betsy Patterson and those impacted by the recent storms locally and the wildfires in California.

Sympathy to the families of: Ollie McCurdy, Patrick Lacy, Cecil Williamson, Annie Jo Callihan, Vernon Crotwell, Bea Kimmel and Regina Craven Boykin.

Travelin’, visitin’ and thinkin’: Those Morton MHV Club members attending the October Leader Training/County council meeting were: Betsy Comfort, Bobbie Hodges, Cathy Johnson, Diane Kirk, Florence Measells, Liz Nash, Jann Powell, Frisky Roland, Shirley Sawyer, Judy Stegall, Kathy Warren and Helen Watkins.  Business consisted of announcements of events for the remaining club year.  With no planned program, all members present representing (Cluster Club, Morton Club and Ringgold Club), introduced themselves, shared information about their families, MHV activities and answered questions concerning their talents and hobbies, etc.  Those Morton MHV’ers enjoying their monthly “Dutch Treat” lunch at Wendy’s were, Betsy, Diane, Florence, Liz, Jann, Frisky, Kathy and Helen.
