CMRLS Libraries will observe Amnesty Week (November 25-30). Full amnesty will forgive all fines and fees if books/items are returned to any CMRLS facility during this Thanksgiving Holiday week.
“It’s Still the Greatest Story Ever Told” will be presented on Sunday evening, December 8 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Morton. Presented by the Celebration Choir, directed by Barbara Ott to be joined by several guest soloists, vocal groups and a narrator. Everyone is invited and reminded to mark the date on your calendars.
Scott Regional Hospital, Morton will host a special Blood Drive in support of Ernie Easterling, II on Wednesday, November 20. Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Florence Measells enjoyed a visit from two of her aunts, Faye Adams and Georgeen Killam of the Mobile, Alabama area. While here they went to Prentiss to visit a sister of the aunts who is a resident of a nursing home there.
Bob, Roxie Laird and Bea Phillips report having a wonderful time vacationing in the Smoky Mountains/Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. While there they enjoyed entertainment at the Pirates Voyage Dinner Theater and the Biblical Times Theater featuring the Christmas Story. Also, according to Bob, stopping and shopping at every town/store going up and coming back.
Morton MHV Club members participated in the Scott County MHV sponsored Creative Christmas event at the Forest National Guard Armory. They served as registrars and worked at their fundraiser table featuring crafts/food and sweet treats, donated door prizes and assisted with the service project by bringing non-perishable food and other items for distribution to the Crisis Center serving Scott County residents and others. Those assisting were: Linda Crotwell, Bobbie Hodges, Dianne Kirk, Jann Powell, Frisky Roland, Judy Stegall Shirley Sawyer, Kathy Warren and Helen Watkins. They were pleased to visit with former Morton resident, Susan Farris, who was featured with her Broken China Mosaic Creations, as the 2019 Demonstrating Artist, sponsored by Forest Community Arts.
