Announcements: CMRLS Libraries will be closed November 27, 28, 29, 30 for the Thanksgiving Holidays, to open on Monday, November December 2.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the “It’s Still the Greatest Story Ever Told” presentation by the Celebration Choir and additional program inclusions, at First Baptist Church of Morton on Sunday, December 8 at 6 p.m.

New Stage Theatre, 1100 Carlisle, Jackson, will present “A Christmas Carol” on December 5-7, 11-14 and 17-21 at 7:30 p.m., also, December 8, 15 and 22 at 2 p.m. For information concerning ticket reservations, etc. call 601-948-3533.

The Annual Morton Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Morton Chamber of Commerce will be held on Monday, December 2.

Congratulations to: Candice Stevenson, US Fish and Wildlife Service refuge manager in Florida (Scott County native-daughter of Hardy and Betty McCormick) has been named as the new fire communication and education specialist for the National Park Service Division of Fire and Aviation. 

To: Jan Risher of Lafayette, Louisiana, formerly a native of Forest, was honored by the United Way of Acadiana during the Annual Women Who Mean Business Awards.  A journalist, she has been the recipient of many awards/honors, including serving on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Acadiana where she received the 2016 United Way of Acadiana Luminary Award.

To: Lexey Stuart, East Rankin Academy-2019 Homecoming Queen. She is the daughter of Doug and Wendy Stewart.

Prayers and concern for Panzy Dipuma and continued concern for Ernie Easterling II, Frances Ficklin and Tim Patterson.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Realizing that football fans, holiday visitors (coming and going) and various tours are taking place during this week and several to follow, reporting on any would leave out others.  So, this columnist would wish to take the opportunity to offer prayers for “Travel Blessings” to you and yours and a very Happy Thanksgiving.
