Announcements: The MSU/Scott County Extension Service, while not opening the office at this time, would like for the public to know that someone on the staff will be happy to provide advice, answer questions and continue to support agriculture, gardening, forestry, 4-H, MHV and all other county/ community services by calling 601-469-4241.
Not to be construed as an advertisement, but to let the public know that a popular local restaurant has now opened for dining in services along with the carry out for those still not comfortable due to “stay home” sanctions. Penn’s Fish House has returned to lunch buffets Sunday-Saturday and regular menu items Sunday-Saturday (lunch & dinner).
Forest Public Library (only) will serve Scott County residents with curbside check out/check in service. Over due books, fines, etc. will be forgiven during this period.

We wish Godspeed to our astronaughts, Doug Hurley and Bob Bacon as they lift off on Wednesday for the first space launch in a decade. May they make safe contact with the space station.
Sittin’ and thinkin’: Memorial Day 2020 has passed when you receive your local newspaper. However as the dacades have gone past for this columnist’s life journey, faces forever young and names of scores of others who made freedom/liberty possible, come to mind: Tom Risher (WWI), George Green, Laseter Waldrip, Edward, John Billy and Ray Huff, Ray Chestnut, Willie B. and George Register, Clarence “Jo Jo” Harrison, Ben Weiner, E. L. Hartley (prisoner of war WWII), Russell Robbins, Jesse H, James, Lloyd Jones, Rosco Simons, Willie Tony, Sonny Garland, Ron Walsh, Richard “Buddy” Ellis, Tom Collins (prisoner of war Vietnam) and brother Travis Collins, Ollie Denson, Lonnie Williams, our local National Guard Unit members and so many others who are cherished in my memory scrapbook.
Just take a stroll down memory lane and, if you don’t see your relative, father, brother, sister or friend listed just lift those who are gone or are still living and willing to sacrifice again if necessary. Never forget those who “Kept the Home Fires Burning.”
