Announcements: A Book Fair, featuring a varied selection of good books and other interesting items, will be available for purchase at the Scott Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 24 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The final We Care Missions Food Distribution for the month of May is scheduled for Friday, May 25 from 10 a.m.-12 noon at the Fellowship Hall of Morton United Methodist Church, 29 Church Street.

Scott County MHV Leader Training for May will be held Tuesday, May 29 “Let Your House Breath with Good Ventilation” at the MSU Extension Service Scott County facility, 230 South Davis Street, Forest beginning at 1:30 p.m. The program will be on Easy Breakfast Ideas/Healthy Homes presented by Anita Webb, MSU Extension Scott County Coordinator/FCS. Everyone is invited/encouraged to attend. The office will be closed on May 28 for Memorial Day.

Morton MHV Club will hold their June meeting on Wednesday, June 6 at 1 p.m. at Morton Public Library (environmental conditions permitting).

Congratulations to:  Garrett Griffin, “Payne the Panther” representing Morton High School as the school Mascot on being chosen by tryouts/interviews to be the “Bobcat” Mascot for Jones County Junior College for the 2018-19 school year. He presently is serving as “Trusty” the Mascot for the Mississippi Braves baseball team.  Also to Briggs Cox- “Beemer” the Forest High School “Bearcat” Mascot on sharing the JCJC 'Bobcat'-Mascot honors.

To: Roti Ware, MHS Grad, now a freshman member of the ECCC Warriors Basketball team on being honored at the recent Student-Athletes Spring Sports Banquet as the Most Valuable Offense and a MACJC Second Team All-Star.

To: Victoria Vivians, graduate of Scott Central High School, now a senior at Mississippi State University, on being featured on  the cover of the MSU Publication from the  School of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The article on her accomplishments as a major in Life Sciences studies recognized her role in academics, athletics and leadership while a student at MSU.

Prayers and concern for:  Shelba Breedlove, Mary Helen White, Dora Nell Lindsey, A. C. “Buster” Porter (graduate of MHS, now resident of Pearl), Sammye Jean Webb, Sonny and Sally Williams of Florence and Jonie Martin.

Sympathy to the families of:  Jerry Glynn Thrash, Rodney David, Andrez “Alex” Hernandez Gomez (7 years old), Christopher Anderson, Keith Netherland, Bess Alexander Burnside, Micheal Thomas Rigdon, William C. Davidson, Angela Darlene Kinstley, Carita “Connie” Seany (mother of Marlon and Bobby Seany), Paul Amis, Debbie Dennis and Jerry Harralson.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: With a belated Happy Mothers Day message comes the recognition that many trips out of town, meals together and family outings out of town, it would be difficult to report on  each of these wonderful occasions.  However, it would be a regrettable oversight to forget the wonderful mothers living and those no longer with us.  We love you and wish the very best.
