Sittin’ and thinkin’: “Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow” and with the retirement of Sister Rita Goedken this familiar quote rings true. She has meant so much to Morton and the surrounding area through her 10 years of service at the Excel Learning and Community Center. She is my dear friend and has been a valued mentor for our son, Brian, while he served as Lead Teacher for After School Tutoring at Excel. She will go on to serve in whatever capacity she is called to at her community of the Sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque, Iowa. Even though retired, she plans to continue her life dedicated to service. We in the City of Morton know that her reserve of energy and compassion will be needed and appreciated wherever she may reside. God Speed, Sister Rita, you will be fondly remembered and kept in our prayers.
