Announcements: Morton MHV Club will meet on Wednesday, March 6 for the regular monthly meeting at Morton Public Library-1:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Lisa Alford, Director of Morton Chamber of Commerce will present the program. Refreshments are served at the meeting.
The annual musical “Freaky Friday”, presented by the Encore Players of East Central Community College is scheduled to begin late in March. Watch for more information on dates, price of tickets, etc.
Mary Helen White requests that words of appreciation be extended to the many family members and friends who attended her recent Birthday Party. The gifts and cards honoring her very special day are being enjoyed along with wonderful memories of the occasion.
MSU/Scott County MHV members and Council Staff wish to express gratitude to Billy Meeks, City of Morton director of Parks and Recreation, and his staff for their efforts in making the Morton Activity Center and the delicious meal a delightful venue for the recent Five County/Sub District meeting held there, a successful event.

Travelin, visitin and such: The MSU/Scott County MHV clubs and Council staff were hosts for the Annual Five County-Sub District meeting held at the Morton Activity Center on Wednesday, February 20. Capital Area Council District Senior director, Kathy Warren, thanked the visiting members and guests representing the counties of Leake, Scott, Smith and Rankin to the meeting (Simpson County was unable to attend due to the threatening weather in their area) for their attendance. City of Morton Mayor, Gerald Keeton, welcomed everyone to Morton and circulated among the more than 60 on site with personal greetings. Devotion was given by Vivian Moore, Leake County, Kathy Warren of Scott led in the MHV song, the Creed was led by Delores Smith, Smith County, Jr. Area director, Frisky Roland (Scott) did the Roll Call of counties, Lucy Large of Rankin county introduced the MHV State President, Lynda Smith who presented the MHV Update. Dr. Threadgill of the MSU Extension Department made a brief statement of the important role the organization provides for the entire state. Following a break to enjoy delicious breakfast treats, Kisty Powell, Morton MHV member presented an entertaining and very information program on “Creative Ways of Turning the Hearts of our Children and Grandchildren to our Ancestors and Family”, emphasizing the decorating theme of Old Family pictures and Heirloom Treasures tastefully arranged on the tables. Blessing the lunch meal was Mary Ferguson of Rankin County, door prizes were given out by drawing and the meeting was adjourned by joining in the reading of the Collect led by Deborah Moore of Leake County. Natasha Haynes, Rankin County was photographer for the group pictures. The service project was donations of stuffed animals to be distributed by local police departments for children during tragic/stressful situations such as auto accidents, house fires and domestic problems.
