By FRISKY ROLAND,

Announcements: Morton MHV Club wishes to extend gratitude to Mrs. Joanie, owner of Sam's Diner, for going the “Extra Mile” in allowing the club to have the regular June Club Meeting in the restaurant. She decorated the serving tables with hand carved watermelon and a decorative watermelon bowl overflowing with fresh fruit for the enjoyment of the members and guest prior to the “Dutch Treat” meal selected from the menu.  Her attention to details in making the meeting is greatly appreciated.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such:  Morton MHV Club and guests enjoyed their “July Outing” and service project during a visit and tour of The Blake in Flowood on Wednesday, July 3.  Following the delivery of the service project Patriotic Gift Bags and tour they honored former club member, Katie Measells, and her friend Frances Shelton with the July Meeting/Dutch Treat Lunch catered by The Blake staff. Shelba Breedlove, cousin of Katie/member of their “Home” Church (Branch Baptist) presented an inspiring devotion/blessing, Judy Stegall entertained with piano selections and Anita Webb joined in on vocals, including those in attendance.  Members present were Betsy Comfort, Linda Crotwell, Bobbie Hodges, Toney Hollingshead, Diane Kirk, Florence Measells, Melvin and Frisky Roland, Chester and Shirley Sawyer, Sarah Strohm, Kathy Warren and Helen Watkins. Becky Measells Moss was a very special guest for a brief time due to a scheduling conflict she couldn’t stay for the meal. Another very special guest was Anita Webb the Scott County Extension Service Agent who has a very long connection with the Measells family through Becky’s involvement with 4-H.  Other guests were Brian Roland, friends/church family at Branch Baptist, Shelba Breedlove, Mazell Davis, Barbara Gordon and Bobbie Measells.  A word of gratitude goes out to the staff of The Blake, especially to Rachel Edwards, Activity Director, Sue Ellen Dennis Gunn, Tour Guide and to Chad Polk, Administrator for his welcome to the group.

Sittin’ and thinkin’:  A word of praise/thanks goes out to our Hevenly Father for the blessings given to me and my spouse for 62 years of loving union.  This journey together was additionally blessed with four wonderful children.  Thank you Mel for your devotion, nurturing spirit and support throughout.
