Announcements: The deadline to make bids on the Silent Auction Fundraiser items is Friday, August 30. Several Desirable Gift Certificates will be drawn on that date at 3:30 p.m. (must be present to win). There is still time to go by and view the display and make your bid.
Correction: The MHV Homemaker Fair and Lunch and Learn events are scheduled for Monday, September (turn in all items for judging at the Fair...and Lunch and Learn is on Tuesday, September 10 (NOT SEPTEMBER 19) as printed in last weeks publications. The lunch and Broken China Mosaic demonstration by Susan Farris is free, but the deadline to reserve the meal and demo is Wednesday, September 4, by calling 601-469-4241 or going by the MSU/Scott County Extension office, 230 South Davis Street, Forest. The Scott County 4-H Village Fair will showcase some of the 4-H members creative work and will be held with the MHV Homemakers Fair. Entries are due in the Extension office on Monday, September 9 to be viewed by 11 a. m. on September 10.
Beginning in September there will be a new opportunity for “Coffee, Conversation and Games” at Morton Public Library from 10-11 a.m. Call 601-732-6288 for more details on which Wednesdays the free outings will be held.
“Camp and Jam” will be held at the Music Barn in Polkville, September 16 through September 21. Weeklong Bluegrass, Country and Gospel will be featured “Free Admission.” The Polkville City Limits Band and others will perform. Bands wishing to be included, should call for more information, Claudia at 601-955-9182 or Jay at 601-046-0280. Jam onstage begins at 6 p. m. each night.
Congratulations to: The efforts of the instructors and staff at ECCC on, once again, leading the State of Mississippi in Transfer GPA (3rd straight year). According to data released by MS Institutions of Hugher Learning, students who transferred from East Central Community college to one of the state’s eight public four-year institutions earned a 3.32 GRA at baccalaureate graduation is 2019.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: With High school and, very soon, college football games beginning the 2019 season, there will be many fans on the road in support of their favorite teams. So, to cover everyone’s trips, etc. would be impossible without leaving out a great outing for someone. Most importantly, prayers for safe travels safety for those players involved on the battle lines.
Buddy and Nan Ellis and Kathy Warren made a jaunt down to Ocean Springs to visit their sister/sister-in-law, Robbie Warren Stevens (graduate of MHS). They report finding her doing OK.
