Our prayers are with the family and friends of the late Mr. George Floyd who was killed by a law enforcement officer in Minneapolis who detained Floyd with his knee on Floyd’s neck. Earlier this month, we commemorated the lives of James Green and Phillip Gibbs who were killed by law enforcement officers at Jackson State 50 years ago. While we salute and thank our local law enforcement officers, we join with others across this nation and world in mourning the death of Mr. Floyd. We also call upon all people to work together to ease the conflicts, pain and injuries being afflicted by the present environment. Our children need peace both in this arena and the pandemic crisis. This too shall pass but at what expense?
Our prayers continue to be with Mr. Larry Bobbitt who is recovering following surgery, former Election Commissioner Mrs. Fannie Bradford, and Mrs. Rosie Odom Harris. Please continue to remember other readers who are also facing health challenges.

The Holy Spirit and Pentecost were the subject of the homily and sermon during St. Michael Catholic Church Mass and Little Rock M. B. Church Services.
Saint Michael Catholic Church pastor, Rev. “Father” Roberto Mena, during Mass conducted outside the Church where parishioners gathered on the lawn and in their cars, reminded us of the importance of the Holy Spirit. He referenced that on Pentecost, everyone (all nations and all people) is united in the same faith and in the same Lord.
Rev. Sheldon Thomas addressed his Little Rock M. B. Church family and visitors (via YouTube) with the subject, “The Governor (the Holy Spirit) Is Here.” During his message, he shared the following: The Holy Spirit came on Pentecost and is the Governor of the Kingdom; God did not create sin or discrimination; Learn to host the Holy Spirit; Your mouth speaks what your heart leaks; Bloom where you are planted and go to Church and bloom; Stop being so predictable; The season of the Raven is over and the Season of the Dove has come; and Be encouraged to find God. During this message on Pentecost, he expressed concern for the problems facing our country, and offered prayers for America. His sermon was enlightening and uplifting.
