Food For Thought: There are days when evil powers suddenly strike, wanting to harm us. David experienced such a day. He had offered help and protection to Nabel, a wealthy herdsman. Instead of being rewarded, David was rudely rejected, He decided to get revenge.
We try to get revenge on others that have harm us. Just like us, David overlooked the importance and responsibilities of his coming position. Getting revenge would deprive David of peace of conscience and peace with God. When the day of evil comes upon us, when we, confused by negative thinking, are in danger of making a wrong decision, may we also meet someone who warns us, who shows us the right way, who has our good conscience at heart. That is a gift of peace from God.
