Food For Thought: Consider this you’re at the beach and you’re famished, you find a restaurant, you rush in you spot a sign that says no shirt; no shoes; no services. So, the message is clear. You must be clothed according to the restaurant’s standard. God also has a standard. But he makes it possible for us to be acceptable to him at all times when he gives us “righteousness as our clothing.” Our faith in Christ enables God to regard us as righteous. He doesn’t see our sin any longer, but he sees us clothed with the righteousness of Christ. As such we are acceptable and properly dressed to come to dine.
Realize that this clothing we are given is like a uniform that, because it represents righteousness, also carries authority. At the moment of conversion, we were issued a righteous uniform. The Lord not only covered our past but also gives us authority over our future. With the breastplate of righteousness God gave us power over sin.
