Rev. Sheldon Thomas, Little Rock M. B. Church’s Pastor, delivered his Sunday message while wearing a Dallas Cowboy football jersey. His attire related to the theme of his message, “Just because you wear the jersey doesn’t make you an official member of the team,” which detailed requirements for membership on God’s team, our connection to “things” rather than God, and recognition that the harvest is ripe but there are few laborers. He concluded by encouraging members to become walking billboards for Christ. We enjoyed the message which was viewed through YouTube. Participating in the worship service were Brothers R. C. Williams, Jimmy Robinson, and Stevie Williams. We are looking forward to next week’s message.
Rev. Shirley Wilder, Lynch Chapel U. M. Church’s Pastor, delivered her message via Facebook and addressed the theme, “What is the Title of Your Book?” During this informative and challenging message, she questioned whether we are living life according to the Word of God. She continued that if we are not, then now is the time to make a change. During this change, she suggested that we choose the Lord. We are looking forward to her message next Sunday.
We enjoyed visiting with former Slaughter Scout and Legacy volunteer Shanedral Pinkston of Milwaukee who called to check on us. She sends her love to friends in Forest and also sends social distancing hugs from Dartavius, Camarian and Deshawn.
While observing stay at home and social distancing directives, we recommend that our readers “Clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another.”(1 Peter 5:5) Robert Wicks reminds us that humility is an essential ingredient in life because it provides an emptying of the self — the very desert spirit of letting go. At its very core, humility dramatically opens up a beautiful space in our inner life: a space for simplicity amidst the complex demands of both home, office, school or business: a space for solitude to listen to the messages of our quiet spirit lest they be drowned out by the day’s noise; a space for pacing ourselves while resisting the lure of speed and new technology; a space for gratefulness and giftedness in a world filled with a sense of entitlement. - Robert Wicks
