Clean up needed!
The Weather Bureau made the correct prediction for Scott and Newton Counties for this past Saturday! High straight line winds certainly were in our community. We hear that it will be Tuesday before some of our people will have power restored!
It was certainly a tragedy that a MDOT employee, Jason Boyd, lost his life Saturday when a tree fell on him. I understand they were working on Highway 489, between Lake and Connehatta. Our sympathy to his family and also his work family.
EBC NEWS: Judgement House had to be cancelled because of power outage. It took lots of people working to get ready for it! Do not know if will be rescheduled at this time? One church member said “the devil is causing this weather to keep people from getting saved!” It does have a powerful message to the lost and reaps soul saved and Christians to a renewal of their faith.
PRAYER LIST; Doris Greer, Truman Bell, Linda Rigdon’s daughter, Susan, Brenda Pierce, Doris Cupit, Katelyn Davis and Joyce Everett. Our sincere sympathy to the the families of Martha Bell Adcock and John Michael Baggett in their loss of their loved ones.
The Rick Gage Go/Tell Crusade was a great event and well attended. One night it had to be held inside because of rain. I attended the first night and the messages were powerful. It was so good to see all that went down when the invitation was given. I understand it was the same every night. “The count was as follows; 637 commitments for Christ for the week ( over 340 the last night). Spoke to 3,500 students in area schools....4000 total attendance. Everyone is pleased and amazed at what the Crusade did. To God Be the Glory.”
PRAYERS NEEDED for all of Power Company employees, who have worked tirelessly to get the power restored and those affected by our recent weather. Also, for my family in Northern California. (They lost everything, couple of years ago, in the Santa Rosa fire. They have been evacuated now for another fire headed in their direction. As of Sunday, 70,000 people are without a place to stay because of this fire. One of my nieces, who lives in Virginia said “I don’t know why anybody would want to live in Ca. because of these fires.” I have to agree with her!
Sunday, without church services, felt like Saturday. I was visiting in Brandon and planned to go to Chick-Fil-A for mid afternoon meal. Just as I drove in sight, I remembered they don’t open on Sundays!
Remember; The time changes on Sunday night, November 3rd. Fall means fall back with time.
Do you know why the American flag is worn backwards on Military uniforms? “To give others the same impression it did when it was first carried into battle. The momentum of the flag bearer would leave the flag streaming behind, appearing backwards to enemies, or anyone else close enough to catch a glimpse.”
I’ve finally realized that people are prisoners to their phones. That’s why it is called a “Cell” phone.
Janet and Harry Culpepper have been visiting their daughter, Jessica Adelt and children, Piper, Presley, Payten and Parker in Sisters, Oregon. They reported light snow and 20 degree weather at night and are happy to be back home and warmer climate.
Have a Blessed Week!
