Welcome ‘Family First’ to Forest
From what I learned of “Family First” introduction meeting last week, I know we are blessed to have them in Forest. They offer so many services, just to name some. Classes of: Anger Management (for adults and children); Financial Literacy; Parenting; Reading assistance and GED assistance. There is no fee for any of their help. The contact number for Forest is 601-759-3109 for Tomeka Weeks and 601-759-3809 for Jon Weeks. Forest location: 521 Airport Rd. And office: Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Appointments are not necessary, but are appreciated. They gave an example of one client that was stressed out with her children. She was also causing stress with them by shouting at them. In counseling her, they discovered she was hard of hearing. This solved many of the problems for this mother and her children.
I am so happy, happy that the election will be over soon. It is unreal how many political mail outs have been sent out the last 10 days. Some days there might be four duplicates of one person’s mudslinging. I wonder if anyone gets ‘turned off’ by this as much as I do? It certainly doesn’t change my mind; in fact if I had been for them, I probably would have changed my mind. Enough is enough!
Unfortunately we will soon be bombarded with presidential surveys and junk mail! I quote the following from a recent article by AFA President, Tim Wildom. “I recently commented, on our radio on Today’s Issues. I have been somewhat hesitant to state things in such dramatic fashion. The political progressives have taken over the two major parties in America. They demonstrate open disdain, and in some cases, hatred for God and the Bible and his people. The path they are on will lead to persecution of Christians, perhaps even physical persecution.”
He goes on to say: “Does President Trump always exhibit the fruit of the spirit? No. Does he sometimes post tweets I wish he hadn’t sent? Yes! But you know what? This man stands strong against progressive principles and the people who want to destroy our country and ruin our lives unless we bow our knee to Baal, and they are vicious, ruthless. And they are God haters, are after President Trump because in many respects — politically speaking — to them, he represents us. We need to pray for President Trump every day.”
EBC NEWS: This coming Thursday the Senior Group will be attending the Scott County ‘Senior Rally’ at New Liberty Baptist. Speaker for the day will be Walt Grayson. Then on Friday the Senior Luncheon will be held at 11:30 in our Family Life Center. We will have potluck lunch. Dusty Phillips, of Forest High School, Scott Central alumni, will be the speaker. Bring your favorite dish and join us at 11:30 in Family Life Center. This will be our last meeting of 2019.
Daylight Savings Time as described by an Indian. “Only a white man would cut two inches from the top of blanket, sew it on the bottom and think he now has a longer blanket.” That’s about the way I feel about time changing!
If you wake up one morning and turn on the TV to learn millions of men, women and children have vanished, without a trace, that would mean they’ve gone with Jesus. This is one trip you do not want to miss!
For us ‘old timers’ here is some Red Skelton jokes on a Perfect Marriage: Two times a week we go to a nice restaurant, have a nice beverage, good food and companionship. She goes on Tuesday and I go on Friday; We sleep in separate beds. Her’s is in California, mine is in Texas; I take my wife everywhere, but she keeps coming back; I asked my wife where she wanted to go on our anniversary. “Somewhere I haven’t been in a long time, she said.” So, I suggested the kitchen!
Those were the good old days when humor didn’t have to start with a four letter word. He always ended his programs with “And May God Bless” and with a smile on his face. 1913-1997.
So proud of my baseball playing great grand, Harrison Smith! This past weekend, despite all the cold temperatures, “Mississippi Chargers battled all weekend and fought till the end. They ended their fall ball season as Champions!” His parents, Stephanie and Alan along with siblings, Catcher and Pepper Roberts were on the sideline bundled and cheering him on!
Breanna Doughty presented her parents, Tammy and Tracy Doughty, a 7 lb 10 oz. bundle of joy on Oct. 14th. Grandson Zayden Wayne Doughty is being pampered and spoiled as they visit with her parents for a few weeks. They are enjoying being in the club of SOG (Silly, old grandparents!)
Have a blessed and rather chilly week!
