Graduation 2020
I would like to give a big shout out to all 2020 graduates from kindergarten, junior high, high school seniors, college and trade schools! The present pandemic has taken away recognition they earned and deserved. I hope each of us will take time to express, to those we know, how proud we are of their accomplishments! A generation ago invitations were mailed to family and friends, from high school seniors as an invitation to their commencement. That seems to not be the norm now. I still remember the gifts I received, senior prom and that last walk on stage to get that diploma. Please be diligent and help bring sunshine in these young people’s lives.
EBC high shool seniors are: Tanner Bell and Tucker Bell (Heritage Christian Academy); Stephen Smith, Laya Riser and Chase Robinson (Scott Central); Preston Thompson (Lake); and Savanna Greer (Leake Academy)
I understand some of the schools, represented above, are giving seniors a yard sign to honor them with graduate picture picture and name on it! This is a great token of appreciation from their schools!
A family in lockdown: “40 days and 40 nights in the Ark, Noah’s family was confined to a boat. There were no windows, no balconies, no terraces, no internet, no phone, no YouTube, no Facebook or Netflix. They only heard the rain. They spent their time praying, loving each other and taking care of the animals. God, the Father, took care of them as Noah was a man of faith and obeyed His word.”
Remember, even though there is an ocean of viruses and life seems to be a stormy ride, our God is watching over us. Don’t be afraid! Be faithful to Him and wait patiently. The rain will stop one day, a rainbow will shine and all will be well!”
If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed step outside, or open a window. Researchers say getting more oxygen to the brain is a quick effective stress reliever!
Our State seems to be having more new cases of COVID-19 each day! “Doesn’t surprise me one bit! Y’all go to Dollar General five times a day, Walmart every other day, Piggly Wiggly every single day. And then you gotta stop by your favorite cousin’s house. Your cousin has been at their girlfriend/boyfriend’s house and they have been to Mama’s house. Mama just made it back from church and the church had more than 10 people. These 10 people have been out and about too. That’s why the numbers are going up, because a y’all won’t sit down!”
If you have six apples in one hand and have seven apples in your other hand, what do you have? Seriously big hands!
Fox News has warned of upcoming meat shortage. They are at it again! The news media is to blame for the toilet paper shortage! If they would stop creating a hoarding situation, our lives would certainly be better and easier.
C.S. Lewis wrote the following statements in 1942: Satan; I will cause anxiety, fear and panic. I will shutdown businesses, schools, places of worship and sport’s events. I will cause economic turmoil! GOD: I will bring together neighbors and restore the family unit. I will bring dinner back to the kitchen table. I will help people slow down their lives and appreciate what really matters. I will teach my children to rely on me and not the world. I will teach my children to trust me, not their money and resources.” (Is this not exactly what is happening in our world today.)
Tips on everyday Living: #1. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxative, then you’ll be afraid to cough at all; #2. You only need 2 tools in life WD-40 and duct tape! If it doesn’t move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn’t, use the duct tape! #3. If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you’ve got an electrical problem. Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good at anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
I didn’t grow up poor. I grew up rich with things money couldn’t buy. We always had lots of love, we were taught to respect our elders and we learned about good work ethic. Our greatest riches were our family and our faith in God!

Since we have the “six foot” rule in place, our lives have had to adjust in everything Mississippians do! The birthday party has had to take on a different role. This weekend there were two separate drive-by events. My great gran, Harrison Smith, was surprised with many of his friends and family giving him this new type party! He plays baseball with the Mississippi Charger Travelers Baseball team out of Brandon. This is first time they have seen each other or coaches since the COVID-19. To just see them riding by, hooping and hollering, was one for the books!
The second surprise drive-by was an 81st Birthday for Zettie Walters. Her family posted a large birthday sign in her front yard and many family members, church friends and former work friends gave her the “hoop and holler” birthday wishes! This was certainly another wonderful celebration for her on her special day.

I love this! “I wiped my T.V. screen with antivirus wipes. I lost CBS, ABC, NBC News, MSNBC and CNN!”
Guess who is open to do your hair, nails and eyebrows? The funeral home! If you want an appointment, keep running around!
Psalms 17:8. “Protect me as you would the pupil of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings as you hover over me.
God Bless and have a great
