Remembering Reverend Billy Graham
This week’s National news about the death of Reverend Billy Graham was certainly a change for the media in talking about Christianity. He was truly a Messenger for God. The tributes that highlighted his life were well deserved and tastefully done. A “Big” reunion and rejoicing in Heaven just had to be going on when he breathed his last breath! No Evangelist has ever touched as many lives as he did world-wide!
A big “Thanks” to SCT for the latest “Profile 2018 - Where Are They Now.” I did not recognize Jim Dorris until it was brought to my attention. When I hired him to work at Sunbeam In Forest, back in the 1960’s, he was just a young man. Years do make a big difference! I was pleased to read of his accomplishments and all of the others that were featured!
EBC news: Women on Missions will meet 3/1 at 6:30 p.m. Prayer List: Truman Bell, Carol Ann Jones and Bingham Moncrief. To the families of Ms. Thelma Gardner and Hugh Mayes our sincere sympathy in their loss of loved ones.
Last week’s school shooting in Florida has reopened so many wounds from previous school shootings. All parents involved are hurting and their sadness on news programs are heart wrenching!
No matter what decisions are made trying to make schools safe it is not going to please everyone. I heard a group discussion about taking the annual Five hundred Million dollars away from Planned Parenthood and using it for school safety. They are the group credited with making millions of abortions, some in the late trimester of pregnancy.
Have you noticed the downsizing packaging of most grocery items? Some of the canned goods have the same size can, but lot more liquid added. Many boxed goods are the same way. I opened a name brand cake mix recently and couldn’t believe the small package inside. Instead of a three layer cake, it made a two layer one! Guess the companies think that is ok and we should be happy that the price didn’'t change?
How about this weather? Several days of needing AC and then needing some heat! The warm days were wonderful! They made my “green thumb” itch to get something planted in my raised beds. It is amazing what a small space it takes to grow things. Last year I had a couple of sweet potatoes to sprout. I dumped them in a plastic tub that had dirt in it. It produced beautiful colored runners with flowers and when I pulled it out, before the first frost, it had about 3 gallons of edible potatoes.
I hope automobile manufacturing gets the “self-driving” cars more perfected! It should give older driver’s a chance to be more independent when their kids take their car keys away. The things that were shown on the “Jetsons” years ago are a reality in our present life. Most of my family’s households have the automatic floor sweeper. It is programmed to clean floors at a time set. Who would’ve ever thought it?
“Always pray to have eyes that see the best in people, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets, and a soul that never loses faith in God.”
Have a blessed week!
