Unshakable Faith
May’s issue of Mississippi Christian Living Magazine featured some stories of “Strong Women.” One of those features (written by Marilyn Tinnin) was about Ann Brand Colbert’s “Unshaken Faith.” When Ann Colbert’s only daughter was killed in an automobile accident, at the tender age of 25, who could have blamed her if she had let that grief swallow her whole? Ann said, “Her comfort was in having no doubt that Christy was in the presence of the Lord.” It is a very touching and enlightening account of how she handled that loss. The Wedding, to top all weddings, of Harry and Meghan on Saturday was certainly very different! I couldn’t help but wonder what the Queen was thinking during that time? When the current presiding and Primate Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Michael Curry, got up and began his delivery, I thought WOW! He is doing something very different in a Royal wedding and probably in that Country! In case some did not hear it, it was the “Power of Love.” It was delivered like he was in a traditional Black Church, in a very forceful manner. It was very good, although a bit long. I couldn’t help but think all 600 people in attendance had “been to church”! (Bishop Curry is the first African American to be elected to that office!) The Singing of “Stand By Me” by an African American choir, was over the top too and the audience sang along with the choir! The Monarchy is probably in for a little modernizing, since Harry will not be eligible to be King, and with a bi-racial wife. You go, Duchess Megan!
For those that are hearing about “what do you hear, Yanny or Laurel?” Get on Youtube and just put those two names. When the video is played, 47 percent hear Yanny and the remaining 54 percent hear Laurel. The explanation is those with young ears hear Yanny and with older ears hear Laurel. The explanation for this audio difference is in the frequency of the brain. I hear Laurel and some of my family hears Yanny!

Our Sunday School lesson was on “Giving Faithfully” and I saw a little clip that goes right along with this topic — “He HAD A DREAM.” He dreamed the Lord took his Sunday contribution and multiplied it by 10 and it became his weekly income. In no time he lost his color television, he had to give up his new car. He could not even make a house payment. What can a person do with $10? Suppose the Lord took your offering and multiplied it by 10 and made it your weekly income. How much would you make every week?"
I saw a sign recently that said “Spring is Here” and thought, no, we missed it and got summer instead! I promised that when every day was cold and disagreeable, I would not complain when the heat came. I’m trying to think positive and think this happens every year, so be thankful as it could be worse! No flooding, no volcanic smoke and ashes and no storms. Blessings!
“Don’t ever add up how much you spent on plants or pets. You cannot put a price on the happiness they bring plus, you really don't want to know!”
“Life is not about being rich, being popular, being highly educated or being perfect. It’s about being real, being humble and being kind!”
Memorial Day, May 28, is an American holiday observed on the last Monday in May. It honors those who have served, currently serving and gave their ultimate sacrifice. It began following the Civil War as Decoration Day and became an official holiday in 1971. Many cemeteries are decorated with the American Flag for that day. The cemetery at Ephesus Baptist is breath taking with so many large flags flying on Veteran’s graves. There always seems to be a brisk wind blowing when they are there! It’s worth the drive to come and see!
Have a blessed week and share it with others!
