Weather Warning!
Since we have had several days of heavy thunder and lightning, this might help someone avoid danger: “It is a bad idea to take a shower during a thunderstorm. If lightning hits your house, it can travel through your plumbing and shock anyone who comes into contact with water flowing through it. People have been shocked or killed while bathing, washing dishes, and doing laundry. (This is why indoor pools often close during storms.”
“Mostly negative things are told about this great state, but these are some of the positives — Mississippi is one of the states that has the lowest property tax in the country; Mississippi has the lowest number of abortions; Mississippi has more black elected officials, despite our state’s reputation and Mississippi gives the highest percentage of wages to charity.”
According to The Baptist Record “the turmoil in Haiti stranded about 200 Southern Baptist, on mission trips last week. This was due to airports being shut down due to riots. The turmoil erupted because the government announced it was raising gas prices. One Pastor estimated that gas was $5. a gallon before the hike. The average wage is $2 per day for some Haitians. The government dropped the increase after the riots broke out.”

Recipe for Frosted Banana Cake: 1/2 (cup) butter, softened, 1 and 1/2 (cups) sugar, (2) eggs, 1 (cup) sour cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 (cups) all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1 (cup) mashed ripe bananas. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large mixing bowl cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, and stir in sour cream. In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt and stir into batter. Mix in bananas. Pour in a greased 9x13 pan and bake about 25 minutes at 350 degrees until done. Cool while making frosting.
Frosting: 1/3 (cup) butter or margarine, softened, 1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened. Cream this good in a mixing bowl and add 4 (cups) confectioners’ sugar a small bit at a time and lastly add 2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Be sure it is smooth with no lumps and spread over cooled cake. Let frosting set before serving.
