A Heartbreaker
I am dedicating my space this week to children that are in the Foster Child Care System. The following statements were taken from children in that system. Some were asked, “What do you want in a family?”
Some of their answers were “I want food and water; Don’t hit me; Home with running water and lights; I want love; Mom and Dad that don’t fight; I want no drugs; Don’t kill my pets: Clean house; Treated fair; Don’t get drunk; T.V. in the house; Let me keep my games; Nice shoes; My own comb; Nice house and safe cord on heater; A toothbrush and soap.”
If this does not break the hearts of all that read this, there has to be a problem within. We that have normal lives of love, safe environments, comfortable homes, ect. have no clue what these children are experiencing! There has been a national outcry about illegal children taken from their families at our borders. But our system and society stays silent about our children that suffer abuse with parents and with foster parents!
I had a relative that worked in a facility dedicated to helping youth and their family with drugs and abuse. This person said you could not help a child if their parents are caught up in drugs and evil living.
The largest percent of these children are from one parent homes without a male figure to guide them.
I certainly do not have an answer to this problem, but it needs someone working to keep these children from having to live in such horrible conditions!
