Christmas in August
One of my Christmas gifts, from daughter Pam and husband Jim Jeffries, was a trip to any place I wanted to go. I selected Washington D.C. Because the Bible Museum had just opened on 11/16/17... This past week we flew to D.C. and it was really a great adventure.
The Bible Museum is located just blocks away from the Capitol. It has eight levels with 22' high ceilings and is equivalent to a 17 story building. It was constructed at a cost of $500 Million and is the largest private funded museum in the city. The Green family, who owns Hobby Lobby, that has around 15,000 employees, was the major contributor to this project. They stated that “This museum exists to invite all people to engage with the Bible through our collections, exhibits, media presentations and research.”
You can “Explore a virtual reality tour of the ‘Land of the Bible’ through 34 of the most famous Biblical sites, soar across the Sea of Galilee and climb up the stairs to the Temple without leaving your chair. On a different virtual reality ‘Washington Revelation’” you take a flying trip past biblical references around Washington by the Lincoln Memorial to entering the Library of Congress.” (These were like you were flying and the floor was moving as well)
We also spent a couple of days in Jamestown and Williamsburg. A high light of this was getting to go a “ghost” walk, after dark, around Williamsburg and hear of the many, many places that ghosts have been heard and sighted. One place was a church that years ago the preacher’s wife died. The preacher took a two month leave of absence to go purchase a monument for her grave. At the end of the two months he came back with a new wife. His deceased wife’s ghost then started doing things like singing with the choir but to a different tune than they were singing, playing the organ in the middle of the night, throwing song books all over the floor and rearranging the church furniture. One of the drapes on the front windows was taken down because she kept pulling it from side to side. (All in all we had a great trip. My advice is never go in hot weather because we almost sizzled in their extreme heat!)
I would like to give the Instructor’s of Fabulous Fitness at Forest Baptist Church, Carolyn Fountain, Gwen Emmons and Lorry Blackwell a big thank you! I would not have made it with all the walking on my trip without their help! This is such a great program for all that attend. D.C. As well as all places we went requires walking, walking and walking! This was the second time I have been there, but was younger before.

Joke of the week: “A husband goes into the laundry room to wash a sweatshirt and yells out to his wife ‘what setting do I use?’ She asked him ‘what color is it and what does it say?’ He replies ‘Crimson and it says Roll Tide’. His wife yells back ‘Hot Water and 5 Cups of Bleach.’”
“Having a rough day? Place your hand on your heart. Feel that? That’s called purpose, you’re alive for a reason. Don’t give up!”
Have a blessed week and share it with others!
