Philadelphia, MS in mourning!
I feel most of you know of the horrific, senseless killings that took place on Saturday in Philadelphia. Janet and Harry Culpepper and I accompanied Brooke and Derek Crenshaw, to East Philadelphia Baptist Church on Sunday morning. The closing prayer addressed this horrible event. They prayed for God’s direction in getting through this difficult time.
This is happening too often in our nation and this one is close to home!
On Facebook Sunday afternoon the wife of the man pumping gas, who was shot and killed, described what happened. Her husband saw this murderer put his gun in his wife’s face when she and their child were sitting in their car. He was carrying a gun and wounded the killer being killed. Their young child witnessed this event!
These types of things use to happen away from rural areas, but we are not safe anymore no matter the situation.
PRAYER NEEDS: City of Philadelphia and loved ones of those who were gunned down; Accidents and sick concerns — Mitch Parkman, Janet Pryor Richardson, Jordan Chambliss (Patty Callahan’s great niece), Addison Martin, Jim Weaver, Jeni Money. Sincere sympathy to the families of Carol Ann Jones, Raymond Wilson and Riley Gunter in their loss of loved ones.
Our hearts were saddened to learn that Bro. Doyle Boyles and his wife’s house burned down last week while they were at church. He is Pastor of Homewood Baptist Church.
This next weekend is our popular holiday for “Labor Day.” It was always a great time to make travel plans for retired folks as schools were back in session and it was easy to just stop in and get accommodations for the night. My how things have changed! If you don’t have reservations many places are booked full. Even our locals motels, I understand, are fully booked on many nights.
“We don’t ask pilots to pay for airplane fuel, or policemen to pay for bullets or handcuffs, or doctors to pay for medicine or surgical equipment. So then why is it okay to ask teachers to supply their own classrooms, from their own funds, for our schools?”
Elizabeth Warren, State Senator from Massachusetts, had this to say about Mollie Tibbets being murdered by an illegal immigrant. “I know this is hard for this family but, they need to remember that we need to focus on the real problems like illegal immigrants not being able to see their kids!” This would have been different had this been her child!
“Heaven has a wall and strict immigration policies! Hell has open borders. Let that sink in!”
“Random churchgoer — I didn’t really like the worship today!” Regular churchgoer — That’s okay. We weren’t worshipping you.”
“Mother to daughter. — If you don’t stop lying, you’ll grow up to be a reporter on CNN.”
God didn’t add another day in your life because you needed it, He added it because someone out there needs you!
Have a blessed week and share your blessings with others.
