November is National Caregivers month
I know there are many caregivers in our area and know that some need the following information. If you haven’t experienced this, you may in the future and hopefully this will give you a heads up!
Mississippi family caregivers are estimated to be 501 thousand, provide 467 million hours of unpaid care, valued at about $5.3 billion annually. Caring for a parent, spouse or other loved one can be a rewarding experience, but it can also be challenging. The following steps to help you with this task. Do you spend several hours per week, or more, helping a loved with housekeeping, driving, grocery shopping, medical care or financial responsibilities? Do you sometimes put the needs of your loved ones before your own? Are you overwhelmed with the caring for a loved one along with work and other aspects of your life?
If your answer was “yes” to any of those questions, chances are you could use some help! (Start a conversation with your loved one about important issues, before a crisis occurs, about healthcare preferences, finances, and housing options. Sooner is better than later!
Form your team with other family members, friends, neighbor’s, community members and faith networks. Even younger family members can contribute in special ways! Make a plan. This can help you organize tasks efficiently, respond more quickly should a particular need arise.
Find support. You are not alone! Professionals can offer support and community resources can include meal delivery, transportation, and adult day care. Home health care services can also be a big help, even on a part-time or occasional basis.
Care for yourself! By taking time to care for yourself and your needs you will be less likely to feel worn out by your caregiving responsibilities! (Visit AARP.-org/preparetocare to download the guide or call AARP at 877-333-5885 and request a copy of Prepare to Care)

It is very interesting, to me, to see that my favorite place to eat is leading the pack! “Chick-fil-A in 2017 made more per restaurant than any other fast food chain that year. At $4.1 Million in annual sales per unit, it stood high above it’s runner-up. Second highest was Whataburger with $2.8 Million sales per unit. Chick fill-A is at a disadvantage because it has always closed on Sunday’s to allow management, but also all of it’s employees a day of worship — 52 fewer days to sell. It has always been transparent about operating by biblical principles — not popular in today’s culture!”
Worry is a conversation you have with yourself about things you cannot change. Prayer is a conversation you have with God about things He can change!
A way that I can block up to 100 calls on my landline phone. (I am with ATT/Uverse). Immediately after a nuisance call I can tap *60# and after a slight pause I will hear “number blocked.” If I want to unblock, I can tap *80# and I hear “number unblocked.” It allows me to block 100 numbers. If this doesn’t work for you, call or chat on line with your carrier to find out how you can block on yours.
I had many things to be thankful for at Thanksgiving. After family, friends, health, etc. It had to be “Thankful this Tuesday the Election advertisements surely will Stop!” Also the enrollment period for Medicare is over in a few days! Now to block the calls about back brace, hearing aids, lower car insurance and many more things of no interest!!!
Joke for the week — ad that appeared in newspaper — “WANTED GOOD WOMAN. Must be able to cook, pluck and clean birds, field dress deer and re-load shells. Must have a truck and a dog. Please send picture of truck and dog.”
Have a blessed week and share it with others.
Good Morning / Evening!
