Christmas Time is coming....Quickly !
Does the month of December seem shorter, to you, than the other 11 months? With places to go, shopping to do and crowded parking lots and stores, it makes for more stress. It is a different world for those that shop on Internet and just have to let their fingers and credit cards do the “walking.” I still prefer to see and touch my purchases (old school).
Last week my daughter, Pam, and I flew to San Francisco, CA To visit my brother James and wife, Barbara Emmons, in Santa Rosa, CA They lost everything in the 8,000 structure fire in October 2017. Thy have returned to their property and have a modular home which one day will be a guest house. It will be, at the least, a two year waiting time before they can get a contractor to rebuild. Building back is forced by their insurance co. in order to collect the replacement portion they have to rebuild. Construction is going very slow.
I noticed last week in California there were very limited amounts of decorations. Getting back home it was a beautiful sight to see how festive most everything looks “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”
“Did you know that the chopping down of the Christmas tree represents the death of Christ? Putting it back up represents the resurrection of Christ! Did you know the wreaths we hang are a never ending circle that represents eternity! Candy canes were made to look like shepherd hooks and the color red, Jesus blood and white purity. The gifts represent the three gifts the wise men brought for baby Jesus. So when you are running around trying to find the perfect gift, stop yourself, take a deep breath and remember — we have been given the perfect gift. Jesus was given to us to remove all our sins!” (Conservative Country)
Have you been downtown in Forest lately and noticed on the east corner, just before you get to railroad, the unusual wind chimes. There are several different size and shape chimes and if you stop and walk near you can hear some beautiful sounds. I understand these were made by the talented, Bill Blossom.
Someone has come up, I think, with this good idea on How to build a wall between Mexico and America. Impose a $5 tax on every money wire transfer into Mexico. If any readers have a Twitter account with President Trump, please pass this on!!
Prayer needs: Larry Perkins, Ronnie Haralson, Roquell Barber, Jean Herrington, Larry Smith and Jim Weaver. Pray for all that are experiencing their first Christmas due to the loss of their loved ones and all that may be alone on Christmas Day.
Notice to all men: Forest Public Library in January is having a Knitting Class. In one large State, not Mississippi,The popular thing for men is the “Brotherhood Knitting Club!” This club boasts having 200 plus members. They are enjoying the time spent knitting and they say it is a great stress reliever.

During the Christmas season, great songs fill the air! One such song is “Oh Holy Night” that reminds us of the purpose of Jesus birth was to offer the hope that our world desperately needs. It says, “A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices for yonder breaks a glorious morn.” Hope was born: Hope enables us to forget the past and set our sights on stuff that doesn’t disappoint. As we enter the Christmas season, may you know the thrill of hope that comes to you in Jesus.”
This is not a joke. “A college instructor asks, ‘What book has helped you the most in your life?’ A student replied ‘My father’s checkbook!’”
If we happen to have snow, this advice that was in the news to Southerners to help us drive safer! “If you rarely drive in snow, just pretend you’re taking your grandmother to church. There’s a platter of biscuits and (2) gallons of sweet tea, in glass jars, in the back seat. She’s wearing a new dress and holding a crockpot full of gravy.”
My most sincere hope for each of you is that you have a Very Merry Christmas and please remember that “Jesus is the Reason for the Season!”
