Flat Stanley
headed to California ‘special delivery’
Thanksgiving was bitter sweet this time for me and my family. My brother, Charles Emmons, fought a battle with two different cancers for almost a year. It is good his pain and suffering are over, but puts another broken link in our family chain. Thanks to all who prayed and offered condolences!
Our community was shocked and saddened by the death of Mrs. Donna Tucker. She was a very talented person and much loved by all that knew her. Our sincere sympathy to her loving family and friends.
My daughter, Pam and husband, Jim Jeffries, have had a new adventure with granddaughter, Presley’s Flat Stanley doll’s visit. He was delivered to Brandon from California to visit with them. (For those that aren’t familiar with this — it is a cardboard boy, that is sent as a school project, for grandparents to carry him to see the sights. Problem was, they misplaced him and actually forgot about him.
When the child called telling them she had to have him and the pictures of places he visited back home in three days, they were in a panic. Fortunately, they finally found him and spent all Sunday afternoon carrying him around sites in Vicksburg and downtown Jackson. Now ready to send him and the pictures “special delivery” back in time for project!
