The hot weather has certainly blasted us big time! Outside chores, for me, are either early or late and makes me wonder why I put flowers in pots that have to be watered so frequently! Need to write myself a note for next year?
Noticed an article in the Grumpy Gardner column of Souther Living the following: “Oh Man, I just saw a man pruning a crepe myrtle with a chain saw while standing on his roof. Is this an isolated case, or are all men this stupid?” (signed Carmen). The answer from GG was “No, not all of us. However it does explain why women tend to live longer!”

“Over 30 volunteers meet Friday to clean up Chunky River.” (Grant Hartman, 2019 Intern for EMFL, led this group in canoes and kayaks. “It’s just a fun day of being on the river and enjoying everything that we’ve been given and picking up thrash and cleaning it up. At the end of the day we will do some door prize giveaways for the most trash and the biggest trash! According to EMFL, the Chunky River is designated as a “Scenic Stream.” The goal is to keep the river up to it’s recognized “an important river in the State.” (Copied from the Meridian Star). Grant Hartman is my Great grandson — son of Jana Culpepper Mayatt from Collinsville. He will be a Senior at Mississippi State this fall.
“While attending a ‘Marriage’ weekend, Frank and his wife listened to an instructor declare, it is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other! He addressed the men “Can you name your wife’s favorite flower?” Frank leaned over, touched Ann’s arm and whispered. “Gold Medal, all purpose flour isn’t it?”
