Faith vs. Worry
Sunday, we started the first phase of re-entering our worship service at the building. Of course, there were only a handful of people there as precautionary measures were set in place whether by the church or by the individual. Even though, church is not the building it felt good to go back to the building.
It felt good to experience another sense of normalcy. Although I’m not sure how long it will last but it was nice to experience it. I know anxiety has set in place as the world attempts to open back up, but open back up with precaution.
I would like to thank God for keeping me and my family safe during this pandemic especially with me being an essential worker. It looks as if COVID-19 will be around for a while, the numbers spiking last week also sets in more reason for anxiety.
I can’t stress enough to take care of you mental health as well as your physical health. Poor mental health can affect your physical health. Fear, anxiety and stress causes negative effects on the body. Considering talking with someone to help with your mental health should not be frowned upon. If you feel like you need to talk with someone, please call your local health department or your family health care provider.
I would like to share this bible verse that was sent out by my pastor, Pastor EJ Shepard along with a brief interpretation of the verse. John 9:41 (NIV) Jesus said, “if you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, you guild remains.” Those who come to the Lord in humility, admitting weakness and seeking truth, are met with grace and forgiveness. Those who think they are wise, who claim to have spiritual sight will be judged accordingly.
This word from Tony Evans was shared by Pastor Marcus Mann and I would like to share it with you.
The coronavirus has disrupted our lives perhaps like nothing before it. One of the reasons for this is how quickly the virus has spread. Something else also spread just as fast as the virus. Fear and worry has begun to consume so many. Fear for their health, their jobs and their livelihood.
While most people will never experience the coronavirus, every person alive understands what it means to worry. Don’t confuse worry with concern. You can be concerned about a situation in your life without worrying about it. Concern is something you own and control. Worry is something that owns you.
Worry over a sudden loss of income can affect your marriage and your home life. Worry about getting sick can affect your ability to focus on the things you need to get done.
Matthew 6:30 tells us, “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!”
Notice that Jesus doesn’t say “You of no faith.” That is because we have Christians who believe in God but doubt His size. I can’t say it more plainly; stop worrying.
Additionally, grow in your understanding of God and in His power over all. Experience the growth that comes from trusting Him in difficult situations like the one you’re in. That experience will grow your view of God and shrink your problems every time.
There is not enough room in your mind for both worry and faith. Only you can decide which one will live there!!!
