Preparations are getting under way for the Great American Cleanup sponsored by Keep Mississippi Beautiful in the Steele Community. The Cleanup is scheduled for March 10-12. If you would like to donate snacks, water, gloves or food please contact me at 601-507-9567.
When I was young we knew we had to clean up the roads on Spring Break. Although, we didn’t want to do it, we knew we had to do it. And once we finished, we had lunch at church and fellowshipped with each other. After picking up all that trash on those days, we learned not to throw trash besides the road.
Sylvester UMC will be hosting its Spring Revival starting March 4 thru March 6. The speaker for the 1:00 p.m. service will be conducted by Pastor Timothy Croft of Lone Pilgrim M.B. Church. On Monday night Pastor Gary Moore of Corinth M.B. Church will speak and Tuesday night, Pastor Elder Fred Durr of Evangelist Temple Mission Church of God in Christ of Pulaski will speak.
Union Grove UMC will be hosting its Spring Revival starting March 11 thru 13. Pastor Willie Robinson of Christian Triumph M.B. Church of Morton will be delivering the Sunday afternoon message. Monday night, Pastor James Patrick of Rising Chapel M.B. Church in Lena will be the speaker and Tuesday’s speaker will be Pastor J.J. Thompson of New Hope Church of God-Lone Pilgrim.
Union Grove/Sylvester UMC will be hosting a Financial Literacy Class on March 17 at Sylvester UMC. The class will include a financial need analysis, creating generational wealth and building your financial house. Lone Pilgrim M.B. Church will be celebrating their Pastor Timothy and First Lady Shelby Croff’s 10th year Anniversary on Feb. 25 at 2:00 p.m. The morning message will be delivered by Minister James Buckely of Lone Pilgrim M.B. Church and the Anniversary message will be delivered by Pastor Chris Thompson, Pastor of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church in Decatur, MS.
Union Grove Baptist Church in Forest will be having their Usher Day Program on March 25 at 2:00 p.m. Mt. Zion M.B. Church will be celebrating Pastor Jermaine Jones’s Third Year Anniversary on March 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Charles Hughes, Pastor of Green Grove Baptist Church.

A word from Pastor Mann. Don’t say that God can’t use you. Look at the list of characters He used in the Bible to fulfill His purposes. He used John the Baptist — a wild looking sort of guy, dressed in animal skins with long hair living in the wilderness. He used Gideon a coward. He used a shepherd boy, David, and made him a king. He used a murderer, Moses, to lead His people out of Egypt. He used Paul, a persecutor of Christians. He used a teenage girl to give birth to the Messiah.
He doesn’t call only the educated, the older, the strong, the wise, the rich. He calls whomever He chooses. He is an “Equal Opportunity Employer”.
He will use whoever has a yielded heart and desire. He will use whoever makes themselves available to Him. He will use those who say, “Here am I. Lord, send me.” If you “fit that bill”, then you are a candidate for Him to use you to do His will.
More than likely you are already being used by Him and aren’t aware of it because you are looking for Him to do some grand and glorious work through you. Giving a cup of cold water to a thirsty person is being used by Him. Sharing your lunch with a hungry person is being used by Him. Being a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or giving a smile to someone is being used by Him.
