1959 Forest High School graduate Larry Hogue has honored his late parents by sponsoring the restoration of the Hogue -Brantley Alumni House at East Central Community College. On March 3rd there was a formal Ribbon Cutting Ceremony before a large gathering of friends and Alumni!! Several alumni expressed that the two years they spent at ECCC were among their happiest memories. The East Central campus facilities were impressive and well maintained. President Brent Gregory’s comments and Larry Hogue’s response were outstanding.
A number of Forest people were spotted at the ceremony. Two of Larry Hogue’s classmates Jimmy Gibbs and Judge Tom Lee were in attendance.
We can all express appreciation to Larry Hogue for his kind generosity. It is heartwarming to hear this story. Thank you, Larry!!

Tony and Jan Maner are hosting the book signing event at their fabulous Foothills Restaurant on Highway 35 South! Hope to see you there!
Judge Tom and Norma Ruth Lee joined many other parents and grandparents of players on the Madison Central High School Baseball Team as they cheer for Michael Lee on the ninth grade team and Steven Lee with the High School as they strive to defend their 2025 7A State championship title. The away game with Oxford High School brought the opportunity for Mike and Patty Robbins of Oxford to host a Robbins family gathering to attend the Madison Central vs Oxford baseball game.
The perfect weather made for a beautiful night of exciting baseball. John and Janice Robbins and other family members from Germantown, Tennessee, were able to attend the exciting game as they cheered for their nephew, Steven Lee.
Sweet long time Texas friends Taylor and Kesh Curtis of Highland Park, Texas, visited with Loren McKibbens and Terry and Merridy Sims, while taking their youngest son Beckett Curtis, on a tour of prospective SEC schools. Of course a drive through Mississippi would not have been complete without at least a brief visit to Forest! Taylor and Merridy grew up as next door neighbors in south Texas, and graduated together (with Terry) before moving to Dallas following college. Many fond stories and trips down memory lane were recalled on that brief visit. Time flies when you’re havin’ fun!!
So glad to hear that David Tadlock seems to still be improving daily!! We are all so thankful to receive such positive reports.
Please continue to keep him and the family in your prayers. The family attests: Prayer does work!
We are so happy to report that Lib Hill is FINALLY back in Forest after having been in numerous hospitals and rehabilitation facilities since October. Welcome home, Lib!!
Sincere sympathy to the family of Gail Marveggio who died Sunday, March 22nd. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert, and her daughters Margo and Melissa. Graveside services were held at Eastern Cemetery on Wednesday. Prior to the service, the family held a visitation at Forest Methodist Church.
Please send your column news to us at lmckibbens@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
