Memorial Day
If Memorial Day is just another holiday, to you to get off from work, think again, it’s not! The history behind it is a different story. Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday in May, to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military. It was first called Declaration Day and originated in the years following the Civil War. Many visited the cemeteries or Memorials, holding family gatherings and attending parades.
The Civil War, which ended in 1865, claimed more lives than any conflict in U.S. history. In 1966 the Federal Government declared Waterloo, N.Y. the official birthplace of of Memorial Day. A Moment of “National Moment of Remembrance” passed December 2000 which asked that at 3 P.M. local time for all Americans to voluntarily observe, in their own way, a Moment of Respect.
Walmart has announced that they will begin, in some stores, to close their “Self Check Out” departments. They will be making this change for a number of reasons: Theft and Shoplifting; Technical issues with machines; Customer preferences; Labor cost and Customer frustration are some of their reasons. Personally I prefer them for a number of reasons, but the main one is the price marked on the shelves are not always what a cashier rings up. To me this is price gouging and it can be corrected on self check.

When someone you loves dies you never get over it. You just slowly get through each day, but you always keep them tucked safely in your heart.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a woman to garden and the whole neighborhood gets zucchini squash. (This reminds me of a ladies Bible study group meeting in a private home. When they arrived they noticed a basket, at the front door, filled with zucchini squash. The hostess told them before they leave to be sure and get all the zucchini they wanted. When the women were leaving without any squash, she told them again to get all they wanted. The women said “we did.”
Have a God blessed week and pass it along to others!
