Government Highlights
“Congress passes bill to keep the government open, averting a shutdown. Bipartisan majorities in the House and Senate passed the deal, which will fund the government thru November 17th, but lacks additional aid for Ukraine. (However there is enough Presidential Drawdown Authority available to meet Ukraines’s battlefield needs “for a bit longer”, U.S. officials tell NCB News.) It includes disaster relief funds. President Biden signed the bill into law late Saturday night! (Some that voted against it said it was because the bill didn’t include additional money for border security.)
Republicans claim that a vote for Biden would really be a vote for Harris. Biden would be 86, if he survives, at the end of a Presidential tenure. Harris describes herself really ready for the job and quoting her, “Let us understand that every V.P. understands that, when they take the oath of the office they must be very clear about the responsibilities, that they may have to take over the job of being president, and I”m no different.”
Feinstein’s death may refresh Senate. Feinstein had been ailing in recent years, being visably slower in the Senate. She had extended absences from Congress earlier this year that significantly raised questions about her ability to serve in the body. While her passing was not entirely unexpected, the political fight it may setup could be one that places the balance of power, if not in the party, in questions leading up to next years election. She had already announced that she would not run again and Adam Schniff, Rep. Barbara Smith and Rep. Katie Barber, all democrats from California, intend to run. There are few women who can be called Senator, Chairman, Mayor, Wife, Mom and Grandmother.)
Mandatory display of “In God We Trust” ordered in all public Schools in “Red State” of Louisiana. They have taken bold steps toward reaffirming its values by enabling legislation that mandates the promise of “In God We Trust” in all public school classrooms. This move is a heartwarming departure from recent surge of “Woke” ideologies and fridge therapies that has infiltrated educational access!
Prayers needed: Diane Haralson, LaReece Crimm, Nancy Myers, Marie Hollingsworth and Patricia Tyler. Our sincere sympathy to Mrs. Joyce Harrison’s family. She lived to be 103 years old! To know her was to respect and admire her. She left behind a sister, two sons and a great number of other family members. She taught Home Economics for a great number of year as well as EBC Adult Sunday School class. I feel sure she is in Heaven and telling the people who tend to flowers, that she is now over seeing that work. She had two green thumbs and could bring dead plants back to life. Her funeral was one of sharing special times and honoring her life.
I don’t know who needs this, but throw away those sauce packets in the kitchen drawer!
Tip for the home. Dating when you’re older is like finding a cart with good wheels at Walmart!
What should not be heard by little ears, should not be said by big mouths!
I believe my house is haunted. Every time I look in my mirror a crazy old lady stands in front of me so I can’t see my reflection. Don’t get all weird about getting older! Our age is merely the number of years the world has been enjoying us.
Don’t give up on your prayers for rain — we had some clouds today! Have a blessed week and share it with someone else.
