They’re Back!
Astronaut’s — who stayed 9 months in space — are back! But, it will take days before they will actually feel at home! They will be away from their homes over a six week period. With the absence of gravity they have to readjust to life on earth. Functions such as walking and sitting aren’t needed in space and they have a decrease in muscle mass and strength. According too Chris Hadfield, a retired Canadian astronaut, who was the first Canadian to walk in space and command the International Space Station, it takes an average of one week to properly walk again and a couple of weeks, or more, to drive a car.
