Jackie Paul Gunn, born February 14, 1975, entered eternal rest on January 12,2026. Jackie was born at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest, Mississippi, and spent his life rooted in the land, people, and values he loved so deeply.
He was the beloved son of Barbra Jane Brown and Houston Lee Gunn. Jackie grew up surrounded by family and carried that love with him throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of Scott Central High School, where he shined as a star football player and built lifelong friendships.
Jackie is survived by his brothers, Tommy Gunn, Mickey Gunn, and Jerry Gunn; and his sisters, Betty Pippin (Mike), Dorothy Morris (Frank), Joanna Windham (Ronald), and Kathy Keeling (Roger); along with a host or extended family, friends, and neighbors who loved him dearly.
A true country man at heart, Jackie found joy in the simple things — hunting, fishing, sitting under the shade tree, and working in his garden. He was especially known for his large, juicy tomatoes and his awesome butter beans, which he proudly shared with anyone who stopped by. Jackie never met a stranger and could always be counted on to tell a good hunting or fishing story usually with a smile and a laugh that made you feel right at home.
Jackie had a heart as big as the land he loved. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and was a good- hearted, loving neighbor in the Piketon Community. He lovied all of his family and friends deeply, and his kindness left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
ln his final act of selflessness, Jackie donated his organs to help save the lives of others, allowing his legacy of generosity and love to continue living on. He passed away on the hilltop where he always wanted to be — a fitting resting place for a man who found peace in nature and simplicity.
To sum Jackie up, he was a simple country man who loved everyone, He will be remembered for his warmth, his stories, his giving spirit, and the love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
