Dear Editor:
St. Michael’s would like to thank the city of Forest for the care, patience and amazing attitude shown by all who were called upon to help with our visitors on Sept. 7 & 8. None of us were really prepared for the huge influx the visit of the Guatemalan Consulate generated. Nor were we prepared for the lack of courtesy and respect demonstrated by a few “out-of-towners.” However, even when it became necessary to tow three vehicles, the police did it with calm courtesy which was noticed and appreciated by all of us trying to make the visit work.
The entire police force, from Lily answering our calls to the police patrolling, were amazing!
Also, the waste disposal team was kind enough to make a second trip to haul all the debris away.
And to our neighbors who were both patient and inconvenienced, first we apologize for the inconvenience and then we thank you for your patience. Please know that if the Consulate asks to visit again we intend to find other accommodations for them, and would have this time if we had had a clue as to how many people would want to utilize their services.
We value the peace and security our Forest officials and our neighbors provide and strive to be good neighbors. We thank you all for your patience.
