Margurette Hines Chambers, age 96, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Mississippi Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Monday, August 19, 2024, from the chapel of the OTT & LEE Funeral Home of Forest. Bro. Tal Vardaman officiated. Visitation began at 1 pm till the service time. Graveside services were not held, the family wished to remain to visit with friends.
She was born January 31, 1928, in Scott County to her parents Walter Hines, Sr. and Levie Robbins Hines, one of 17 children. She married Stanly Chambers on October 24, 1954. She was a devoted housewife and longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church in Forest. She worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Dominic Hospital until her retirement. She loved people and helping others. Mrs. Chambers was always kind and had an encouraging word for everyone. She loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 65 years Stanley Chambers, and sisters; Ida Hall, Authula Crout, Jewel Finnegan; and brothers; R.C. Hines, Paul Hines, Pete Hines, and Durwood Hines.
Survivors include her siblings; Ruby Hempel of Ridgeland, Carolyn Greear of Orland, FL, Tressie Johnson (Larry) of Ramsey, IN, Janelle Brown (Bob) of Forest, Amedia Beard of Smyrna, GA, Minnie Pridgen of Escondido, CA, Roger Hines (Nancy) of Actworth, GA, Walter Hines, Jr. of Koscuisko, and Carleton Hines (Wanda) of Flowood. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
