The 2nd annual Mississippi Makers’ Challenge is down to its final four products including the Next Generation Jammer produced by Raytheon Forest.
The four are:
• Quadrant 1: Taylor ZH-360L Heavy Lift Truck (Taylor Machine Works - Louisville)
• Quadrant 2: Next Generation Jammer (Raytheon Technologies – Forest)
• Quadrant 3: Halo Headlights (Redline LumTronix – Ocean Springs)
• Quadrant 4: Reform Ti MIS CT (Precision Spine – Pearl)
According to the MMA website, “as a standoff jammer, an EA-18 Growler equipped with a Next Generation Jammer will deny enemy assets the ability to identify and target friendly assets within the electromagnet spectrum, allowing them to penetrate enemy airspace. It does this by jamming radars within certain frequencies, but modern radars and threat are more dynamic than in years past, necessitating the new three-band approach. The NGJ Mid Band (NGJ MB) is a jamming technology that provides enhanced airborne electronic attack capabilites to the EA-18G Growler platform. The NGJ MB will augment and ultimately replace the legacy alq-99 tactical jamming system currently used on the EA-18G Growler.”
The Boeing EA-18G Growler is a carrier-based aircraft, that is a specialized version of the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet.
“We are excited to announce the finalists in this year’s competition and are proud to showcase the innovation of these four companies,” said MMA President & CEO John McKay. “We look forward to this final week of voting and to crowning the ‘The Coolest Thing Made in Mississippi’ at next week’s awards ceremony at the State Capitol.”
Voting in the Round of Four concludes Friday at 3 p.m. Voters may cast a vote for one of the final four products and may do so once per day per device. All voting will be done on the contest’s official website, msmakerschallenge.com.
