The ageless Forest tradition of “Snow Bunnies” returned like Frosty last Friday as a rare storm engulfed the county. No one is positive when young, swimsuit clad, ladies of Forest began posing for photographs in the season’s first snow but research into the newspaper archives show it could go back as far as 1949 when Bunnies included Frances Antley, Martha James Hiner and Billie Lee.
In 1958 Snow Bunnies were Linda Lackey Shelton, Carol Johnston Lindley, Lyllian Lee McMullan and Betty Ormond. And in 1963 the Bunnies pictured above were Nancy Dearman, Sarah Lee, Gelaine McDaniel, Ruth Ellen Ezelle, and Kaye Crosby.
Over the years dozens of Forest teens and pre-teens have appeared in the pages of The Scott County Times frolicking in the snow, just as they do this week. At right continuing with the tradition are Raylee Cooper, daughter of Jeffery and Cathy Cooper, and Ali Beth Wilbourne, daughter of Shane and Sarah Jane Wilbourne, all of Forest.
