Morton travels to Raleigh in round two, Bobcats claim playoff birth
It was a good week for Scott County Schools on the football field with three schools winning in first round playoff action and the fourth claiming a playoff birth. It won’t be the same this week, however, as Scott Central will host Lake in round two play.
This week Morton will travel to just down the road to Raleigh for round two, and Sebastopol will host Lumberton in round 1 play.
With a perfect 11-0 record and ranked first place in 2 A Region 6 the Rebels of Scott Central had little trouble defeating the Amite County Trojans 54-8 in Friday’s first round action at home.
The Rebels are looking to keep their record clean Friday night as they prepare to host Lake in round two. The Hornets come into the game with a 6-5 record after trouncing Stringer, 49-6, in first round play and for the second week in a row.
Morton won Friday’s home playoff game against St. Stanislaus from Bay St. Louis by a score of 42-31. In round two the 6-5 Panthers face an 8-1 Raleigh team Friday night on the road. The Lions routed the visiting Wilkinson County Wildcats last week 43-0.
In Sebastopol, the Bobcats bounced back after being down 8-0 at the end of the first to score 18 unanswered points in the second en route to a 32-15 victory over the Hamilton Lions last Thursday to secure a first round playoff birth.
Now 7-4 on the season the ‘Cats are setting their sights on the 5-5 Lumberton Panthers who lost 36-0 to Bay Springs last week.
