Bearcats, Panthers ready for the annual Battle for the Golden Chicken Friday
The Rebels of Scott Central easily held on to their perfect record this season crushing the host Pisgah Dragons 54-0 in Friday’s league action.
With the win, Scott Central upgrades its record to 8-0 on the season. The Rebels host Puckett Friday night in 2A Region 6 play. The Wolves come into the game with a record of 4-4. Puckett lost 49-7 last week against Velma Jackson.
In another high scoring game, Lake scored 43 points and limited the host Philadelphia Tornadoes to 37 in the Hornets league win on Friday.
The Hornets now possess a 3-5 record. They play next when they host Nanih Waiya for a 2A Region 5 battle on Friday. Lake will play a Warriors squad coming off a 38-8 non-league loss to Pelahatchie. The Warriors record now stands at 2-5.
In Friday’s league game, the Morton Panthers, celebrating Homecoming, smashed the visiting Southeast Lauderdale Tigers by a final score of 50-6.
The Panthers, 3-5, will now prepare for the most anticipated game of the year, The Battle for the Golden Chicken, against Forest Friday night in Forest. The Bearcats come into the 3A Region 5 game with a 3-5 record. In their last game, Forest fell to Union 35-14 in a league game.
Sebastopol came up just short of a victory Friday night at Ethel, falling to the Tigers 36-30 in league action.
Up next, the Bobcats play the Leake County Gators in a 1A Region 3 battle on Friday. Sebastopol will attempt to advance on its 3-5 season record. The Gators come into the game with a 1-6 record after their 34-25 league win over Noxapater.
