Jill Ware, a resident of Sebasto-pol, has joined The Scott County Times as news editor replacing Dustin Whitlock who left the paper last week to persue other interests.
Ware is a graduate of Sebastopol High and was valedictorian of her class. She went on to earn her associate degree in business from Meridian Community College with high honors.
Ware then continued her education at Mississippi State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree with major in business, English and social studies.
Ware describes herself as “A Jill of all trades.” She holds certifications as a Mississippi teacher and as an electrician. Ware is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and she speaks some Spanish.
She previously worked with Davidson Marble and Granite, owned by Mississippi Granite Works, LCC. With Davidson Marble and Granite, Ware worked in sales and grave marker writing.
Ware said of writing, “It has always just flowed naturally — I never want to take it for granted, but it’s just a part of my daily life.”
Ware had a desire to write early on following her submission and victory in a youth writing competition. Ware won 1st place and was published in Guideposts Magazine.
Ware is the daughter of Charles Ware and the granddaughter of Roger and Maude Ware of Damascus.
